LP12 Lingo 4

....outstanding VFM...almost reaching Radikal level for less cost. I noticed within seconds: Soundstage great, single instruments much clearer, no muddy bass, more depth. Big recommendation!
I totally agree ! It was a huge improvement over the Armageddon.

Errrr think you want the linn forum?
Not really, lots of Linnies here to enjoy a bit of new product hyperbole !

And I'm a LP 12 owner with aro
But I wouldn't go shouting about how great the new power supply / motor combo was on this site ...even if I had bought one ( no chance!!)
Thank you T38.45 for telling me about this, and conveying your enthusiasm and pleasure.

It’s a Hi-Fi Forum. Just happens to be run by Naim. Anything (that doesn’t stuff your warranty etc.) goes. Even Linn.
Agreed. My new Lingo 4 blows away my poor old Armageddon.

I would be interested to know how it compares to my Lingo 3. I am considering an upgrade at the moment but it is more likely to be the Linto moving out of the way for a Superline initially powered from the 282. Not trying to hijack this wonderful thread but would also be interested if this is a move others have experience of.

What's the cost, and what would I do with my Lingo 1st gen?
Looking back I had many upgrades on my LP12 in the 90's and I have to wonder what happened to the upgraded spare parts - did Linn claim them back as part of the upgrade price or was my Linn dealer nabbing them and offering no rebate or old parts offer?
Sell it on eBay like I did with my Lingo 1 - I got almost 500 quid for it...
I made the jump, Hercules to Lingo 3 at Cymbiosis, just weeks before the 4 was announced. Due to some good fortune I was then in a position to make that next move. I had some not good dealer experiences before I decided to book in with Peter Swain. Just spending an afternoon with him, and the improvement his attention gave made me trust his judgement that the 4 was a worthwhile move. He was more than fair in taking the 3 back, I have no regrets. He was open about the part exchange prices he was offering.
Dearly beloved immediately mentioned clarity, timing, openness... all the usual review phrases apply.
There has been just one moment of doubt, just one album, Bryan Ferry, Another Time Another Place - he no longer sounds like Bryan Ferry, no chest voice, the vocals are thin and reedy. Otherwise, if you can afford it, go for it.
Well I for one am pleased to hear of th benefits of the 4 - may get round to upgrading my lp12 next (having spent money everywhere else for the last 8 years)
I'm still getting over the thrill getting 45rpm back and having a switch on the deck rather than groping for the Armageddon power switch.

I had that demo of Lingo3 vs Lingo4 on otherwise identical LP12’s yesterday Cyclo. Very obvious and large step up as described by OP in post 1 of this thread.
Apropos your Linto, interestingly, Peter the dealer I believe would strongly recommend the better ps (or indeed, a number of other possible upgrade options) before changing the phono stage. Yesterday, we listened throughout with just a Stageline powered from the preamp and If my budget had been considerably higher, even multiples higher, Peter would still say there would be many more effective ways to spend any extra cash for the build on bettering the power supply (Radikal) or sub-chassis (Kore) etc. before thinking about line stage. Nothing I heard yesterday during his fascinating demo would contradict that phono stage advice.
^^ 'like' especially for Stageline endorsement.
Re Lingo 4; Suffice to say that although its cost will be almost 30% of my LP12 build total cost, I didn’t want to be without it, so I have spec’d it.
If anyone has had direct experience of Lingo 4 vs Radikal (Akurate) I’d be very interested to hear your thoughts and observations on the degree and the nature of the differences.

I'll happily take your Lingo 4 off you for ten bob, if you're now fancying a Radikal instead.
still do not understand why vinyl sounds better than digital (even highres can't transport such emotions...and my digital front-end is not that bad me think....)
