ios Naim App

Not entirely where to post thoughts about the Naim app so will try here and see if there is any response. I use the app all the time and despite trying other DNA/UPnP control points, it is still the most usable IMHO. I use Asset UPnP as the server as, once again, it has proven itself the most flexible server for my needs. My digital music is all in FLAC format and I use the Vorbis comments to keep the metadata in place and this is where there starts being a small issue.

If I have an AlbumArtist as "Paul Weller" and correctly populate the AlbumArtistSort field as "Weller, Paul" in normal circumstances the display order uses the sort columns (AlbumSort, AlbumArtistSort, ArtistSort, ComposerSort, etc. The app uses the default sort order sent by the UPnP server, i.e. Weller, Paul. If, however, you use the A-Z option in the app, that appears to be driven by the AlbumArtist field and things go horribly wrong.

It would be therefore very good if the app was more aware of the Sort fields, mindful that MP3 and Vorbis have different default columns so some may use AlbumSort and some may use Album Sort, and that some config were possible to enable the sort buttons / options in the app to work correctly in all circumstances.

Hi Philip,  I'm not sure this is an iOS app issue, as I understand it the app is only a reader display & can only display what Asset shows it.    Maybe one of the forum Asset experts can help

I also use Asset uPnP but not Vorbis.  I started a handful of threads about sorting on the forum a couple of months ago which you should be able to search for that might shed some light.  I got there in the end.
