Core, cover art lost from album index

Posted by: yeti42 on 03 June 2018

Twice now the cover art has disappeared from the album and other indexes though it’s still there when you open the booklet symbol for an individual album. The last time this happened the only way to restore the images was to reformet the internal drive and restore from backup.

On both occasions the artwork in the index was initially still visible for the first albums in the list but gone below a certain point and replaced by the file icon. Resetting the detabase erased the rest of them except the artist list still had images to were they cut off before the reset.

The system has been unplugged quite a lot recently and I’ve only put the Core on standby before doing so, I’d forgotten about deep sleep mode, so this may be connected. I don’t remember what preceded the artwork loss last time.

Has anyone experienced the same issue and if so found a better remedy than the nuclear option?

I note that feedback has vanished from the Core’s menu recently.

I never said I was streaming, I’m just feeding a DAC so I put ths post where it will be seen, does anyone read this section? I hardly ever do. I might have to start at the end of July I suppose.

Yeti,

I moved your post to the room where you should get the most useful replies to your post.  The Core is the server part of the current Naim streaming setup, hence why you will probably get the most response from members visiting the Streaming Audio room.  This room is very active amongst those who enjoy the nuts and bolts of Streaming audio.

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) i haven't had the same issue on my own Core.  This in spite of just unplugging and re-plugging a lot recently what with all the thunderstorms we've been having.

Failing that, I would drop Phil a line at Naim.

@Yeti42 I have helped a couple of forum members in the last couple of days who had similar problems to this. In both cases the problem was solved by restarting the router and restarting the Core. I'm not entirely sure what is going on here, but it seems to be that the app is unable to get some info from the Core because of the nature of its lease on the home network. Restarting the router sorts that out. And in restarting the Core you need to restart it properly because putting it into one or other level of sleep may or may not help. So pull the mains power out and start the Core from scratch.

You will probably have to stop and restart the app too as a last step. But no need to delete it and reinstall or anything like that.

best

David

Yes, that’s done the trick. One for a note in the support FAQ maybe.

Thanks David.

Yeti, I had a similar issue to you quite some time ago and cured it the way David suggested. Turning everything off including the router and then turning one piece of equipment on at a time allowing a few minutes for stabilising each time. Turn on order would be router, network switch if fitted and lastly Core. Core should look up any missing artwork automatically with out manual intervention although it may take some time. You would need to leave the Core on for this to happen, mine is left on 24/7. Rich

Good to hear Yeti.  Possibly not something I've seen because when I switch off, I also switch off the AE network as well. So come switch on, everything gets re-booted.
