HDX-SSD internal drive troubles
Posted by: maxmagri on 05 June 2018
Hi, internal drive appears locked. I tried to unlock it with no success. Previous owner told me there is no password. What can I do? I'm going mad ...
If you are trying to log in, as opposed to using it as a 'guest', there is no need. All you need is guest access.
???????

Not only is there no password, there's no data !
...at least no data that would be of use to you. You need to get you hands on the Naim Desktop Client software that runs on a computer - that gives you all you need to manage your HDX (and more). Desktop client is available for download from the Naim web site, Customer Support, Updates... right at the very bottom of the list of stuff.
Go here https://www.naimaudio.com/updates and scroll to the very end.

HDX_SSD has no internal drive that is user accessible. You cannot get to it and you cannot use it.
SSD vwrsion of the Uniti server platform require a NAS to function.

Even the HDD version has a user login/guest access option when you open it on a computer. It is a little misleading, as the guest option is all you need to view the contents.
I'm a bit confused. This drive has been locked (padlock symbol when I try to manage it). When I try to access it from a PC I can't change its attributes. How can I rip a Cd on that drive? Simply I can't for now. Please tell me how to rip Cds on that drive. Thanks in advance.

Yo canot rip CDs to the internal SSD drive. The internal SSD drive is used to store some album data, but does not store any music.
HDX-SSD requires a network attaches storage (NAS) to rip music to Paragaph 2.1 is very clear on that.
This is the manual:
I've read that internal storage must appear like a network drive. Is it wrong? Do you own a HDX? is there other owners? I've read this is a HD player not an EXTERNAL HD player. Again, am I wrong? Thanks for your patience.
Sorry, now I've seen I'm wrong. There is no internal available storage. I've make a mistake when I bought it.

It was designed to use a NAS drive to store the music, there was a version with internal drives but the one you have isn’t that one and in fact cost more when new. Looks like you failed to do your research before buying it but a NAS isn’t that dear and with that in place yours will out perform the internal drive version. No need to throw the toys out if the pram, just finish the job.
Your HDX is perfectly cabaple od doing what it was designed to do - it’s a high end server / player. It requires a NAS to function - which in fact is a good thing. All your precious music collection is stored in one secure place, on an easily accessible network drive.
