Supra Lorad
Posted by: Naimark on 10 June 2018
Hello everyone,
I have recently tried a supra lorad power cord on my nap 250.2, wilst the rest of the cables are the standard ones.
Despite some negative feedback I have read until now, the result is good.
The sound goes natural, deeper and more detailed.
All the connections are linked to wireworld matrix2.
I'm thinking to buy other n.2 supra lorad for supercap and xps2.
What do you think about that?
Thank you

I currently have 3 Supra LoRad power leads on my system, one going from the wall to the Matrix 2 block, one from this block to my SuperCapDR and one feeding a separate Matrix 2 that has all my noisy network gubbins plugged in (NAS, Router, switch, UnitiServe). On the main system I have a mixture of LoRads and Powerlines. They all seem to work fine together.
Some have said that Supra LoRads suck the life out of a system. If you could hear what I am hearing right now, you would not understand this view at all. I think LoRads do a fine job at keeping some of the noise at bay and they sound great to these ears. Pretty good VFM if you ask me. I do however think the LoRad with the thicker grade cable is the best.
I had the Supra ethernet and mains Anniversary Silver addition, for me I found as NIGELB says they sucked the life well top end dynamics out of the music.
I went back to stock Naim, then Chord Aray.
If it works for you, it works, end of.
I have the original design screened/semi conductive earth 2.5mm Super LoRad from wall the my DIY (MK) multiway power socket/DC filter assy.. I'm very keen to keep the low/zero radiation feature of this cable as it runs aprx 2-5cm from an ethernet over about 1m run - I know a 1m run will have diddly squat effect, but its suppresses my OCD.
I used to have 2.5mm to SN & 1.5mm to NAT & to NDX & SN non-Naim PSU's. I changed to Mark Ward 2.5mm screened for SN & NAT & have 2x Naim PL Lite's to the PSU's. I think the Mark Grant improved SQ ever-so-slightly over LoRad, I could not hear any change when I changed to PL Lite'son the PSU's.
You have one, why not try it on the other boxes for a few weeks on each, then remove it altogether and see if you miss it.
I would go S/H PL, the dedicated upgrade, instead of continuing on the LoRad path.
I have had excellent results with the LoRad 2.5 Power cable from the wall to the MD06-EU Mk II mains block (unsurged model) before I moved to a Nordost QB8 block. The Supra combo was a bit lean but quite dynamic, smooth and well 3D layered. The LoRad however never worked for me straight on the black boxes and certainly not from the wall to the QB8.
Chag -
I have 1,5m lenght, but In terms of sound what is the best lenght? I have to decide if buy the next two cables with the same lenght or less (1m).
thank you

Length makes no difference in a domestic setup. The UK Supra dealers make them to any length. When I had all LoRad I made them to fit to the correct length to avoid the problem of having too much excess, some where 0.3m others were 1m, my wall to power dist board was 3.5m, I have now rearranged the setup & its now 1.2m.
