Speaker cable

Posted by: tonycurran1 on 20 June 2018

hi members

have been using Naim NAC speaker cable

my dealer had a cancelled order of a 2.5 meter pair of Chord Reference signature cables which he has offered to me at £700 retails at £1125

takin it home to try it about a hour ago

problem is if I try connecting the right speaker output on my 300 amp it won’t reach the right speaker

is there any reason why I can’t connect the right amp speaker output to the left speaker

and left output to right speaker

i know this means the balance control is going to be working the wrong way around on my 252 but I keep the balance control at 12 o clock just checking it’s not going to do any damage before I turn the system back on

many thanks for any advice Tony ????

I can cope with plugging in an amplifier.  Life?  That can be challenging at times.

As can the indigestion that follows swallowing a dictionary.

Naim did think of it before, that’s why they put them the ‘wrong’ way round from the start. It’s taken them the best part of 50 years to kick the habit and start putting them the right way round, which they now do on the new Unitis.

This can only lead to confusion, when someone moves on to reference gear, or downgrades to uniti.

Only if they are too dippy to read either the manual or the writing on the back of their amplifier. You’d think people with the wherewithal to afford a Naim amplifier would have a modicum of common sense.

Some of your replies are very likely to stop members asking a question on here

can you not read them before pressing post ????

Don’t worry, I did. I decided dippy was nicer than thick. How hard is it to read a set of instructions. Or, heaven forfend, to use a search engine or even to ask one’s dealer. If people cannot cope with plugging in an amplifier, how do they cope with life?

If we all used google you would not get the chance to let us know how fantastic you are ????????

What’s your problem? I gave a helpful response above, which you liked. At least I can reply without resorting to silly emoticons.

Completely unnecessary and crass.

Time to cool it, I suggest, before this gets out of hand.

People revealing their education or how widely read they are by using less common words at least are able to be precise about what they mean, unlike those whose spelling and grammar are poor, which can lead to misunderstanding and confusion, as well as irritation - and sadly is all too common these days (and that is not a dig at anyone here, while I readily accept that some people have an excuse in that they dod not receive a proper education, or English is not their native tongue).

Nothing wrong with anything HH has posted here in my view.  The forum would be pretty boring if people couldn't freely express their views, and in their own style.

Can somebody please think of something to say about speaker cable?!

It's long and has two ends...

He’s a very nice man and a rather good speaker too!

Most commonly 4 ends, per cable.

Any comments on 'laying a cable' might be beneficial too.

The thread isn't about speaker cable.  It's about right vs left.  I don't know which side to bet on.

For the OP if still reading, place the speakers facing the wall, then play something that requires an air guitar.
