NDX not working !

Posted by: Pmc1979 on 30 June 2018

Hi , I just bought an ex demo NDX today and I just can’t get it to work. I previously had ND5 XS which worked fine. The i radio keeps cutting out as does Tidal. The NDX frequently isn’t found by the Naim app. Can it be the connection to the router? The ND5 worked perfectly so surely it can’t be this?? This is so frustrating !!!! Any help would be much appreciated . Thanks

Hi PMC. Id try a factory reset of the machine

Also turn the NDX off and the router, restart the router and wait for it to finish starting then restart the NDX. You probably should restart the app too.

At some stage you will want to check what firmware the NDX has. The latest is 4.6. If your NDX is on earlier than 4.5 then you should do 4.5 first, then 4.6.

Hi PMC1979...if nothing else has changed other than your streamer... I would check the streamer has the latest firmware installed. The latest version is found on the Naim web site.

I bought an extra long Ethernet cable and hooked it up - it’s working perfectly . It must be a weak wi fi signal in my living room. Surprised the ND5 worked though .

The NDX sounds incredible by the way , such a clean , refined sound.

Thanks all !

I was about to ask if you were using WiFi, as this is always a hit and miss affair with the built in WiFi on these streamers. So you have successfully answered your own question. Enjoy!

Good, but still worth checking the firmware version.

I assume you have the wifi antenna attached? I have struck this before ...

It's worth checking the antenna too - is it the correct one?  Is it working properly?  But if you're going for hard wiring then that's better overall anyway.

Thanks for the replies everyone . I bought a net gear with fi booster and plugged it into a socket near the NDX. It’s now working perfectly through wi fi . I still can’t believe how good the NDX sounds .

Cheers!
