Woodbine, it's the IEC inlet socket, and yes, on Naim kit there is a degree of free movement allowed to ensure that any possible physical vibrations picked up by the cable from elsewhere are not fed into the chassis of the kit. It may look a little alarming, but it's completely safe and fully compliant with regulations. The Naim Powerline takes this simple idea even further. Well worth researching...
