B&W P5 Wireless Headphones

These B&Ws get good reviews, are made by a ‘proper’ hifi company and certainly look the part. I’m really attracted to the convenience of wireless - I have Apple’s ear pods and whilst obviously not fantastic sound they work brilliantly.

BUT..is there still a consensus that wireless Bluetooth headphones are inferior to wired? Or have things moved on? - there certainly was couple of years ago when I was last looking...

I have Bowers and Wilkins PX Bluetooth headphones and B&W say there is no loss of sound quality on the latest headphones via Bluetooth. I must say they do sound good and the convenience of no wires is superb. Visit their website and read the explanation. I’d recommend them.

I have some original wired P5's and I've never been entirely convinced by them - nice yes, but quite uncomfortable - they look reasonably compact but I found them quite noisy if I wore them while exercising, and any jaw movements produced 'thunking' noises transmitted by the headphones.

This may sound negative but think how you'd use them.

Wired is almost certainly going to be better provided what's driving them has a good output stage, but the convenience of wireless can be a big factor when enjoying music.

Apple AirPods look stupid but I love mine - they are far from fantastic quality but are small/compact and fit in their little charger when not in use when out and about - they are great for work or exercising I find, but if I wanted better sound quality I'd likely use a wired headphone at home but I do hate the leads!

Inuse a wireless set of P5 and am very happy with it. Need to be hounost by saying I do hardly use them as an alternative for my hifi. Instead I use them for occasional listening when in the garden, or to listen to Netflix or YouTube ... for those purposes they are very good. The battery holds very good and I can listen for hours. Also the listening colfort is perfectly fine for me.

???? Dalmatian,....What Bowers & Wilkins says is just marketing.
There is a very clear difference between Bluetooth headphones, and headphones with cable.
That,it is then practical with Bluetooth,it is a completely different matter.
But if we talk soundquality, then it is headphones with cable that applies.

A friend of mine bought Bowers & Wilkins P7 Bluetooth,or Wireless as it is also called, these are also possible to drive with cable.
He also notes that his B&W P7 plays significantly better with cable.
He flies a lot and needed a pair of headphones with Noice Cancelling,so he bought Bowers & Wilkins PX.

These B&W PX have both Bluetooth and Noice Cancelling. But he says that they cannot be compared with B&W P7 if we talk soundquality. There is B&W P7 better.
I have also listened to these and agree with my friend.

Hi,

Like Dalmatian I also use B&W PX. I am also very pleased with the sound quality. Whilst I agree P7 wired is ultimately better SQ you may want to note that the PX headphones are Aptx HD enabled and so if you are using an Aptx HD capable source with a CD quality or better source file then you get very near CD quality. This is the main reason I use a LG V30 phone with cd quality and better flac files loaded. No extra device needed for my music listening whilst commuting.

???? DWO-Naim,...I've read that LG with this phone, has bet extra much on soundquality.
Fun,then you can say that you also run "Source First".
