problems with Uniti

My 8 years old UNITI ( first model)  has some problems:
every time I Insert a CD  I just see the msg NO CD on the display and the  display light is very weak.
I've always used the CD in the proper way and the display hes been set to switch off all the time  so I do not understand how a naim product can have these type of faults.  Taking a look around in this forum I see that the display problem is very common and It's quite frustrating knowing it.
Now I have to take a decision:
  1. repair my uniti display and CD and upgrading it to 24/192, does somebody have an idea  how much can it cost ?
  2. change it with a new uniti Atom but a couple of  resellers told me they won't  take my uniti in exchange so I have to repair it and then try to sell it on the used market.
I bought an all-in-one naim system (uniti, n-sub, n-sats, naca5) thinking to not change it for a lifetime  like my old sony  all-in one is still perfectly working after 25 years.
Please can you give me your suggestions and your thought about this situation?

Does the mech spin up when you close the door?  If not, it may indicate that the magnetic activator near the door has come loose. Otherwise it probably indicates that the mech is failing or the laser has died.  Best have your Naim dealer take a look.  At the same time they can quote on anything else you may need doing.

Hi Richard,

The mech spin up when I close the door and  so I think th's a mech o laser problem.

In the forum I've seen to replace the display would cost about  350€ and a copule of yeras ago a reseller give me a price quotation to  upgarde to 24/192: it was 390 €.

I do not know the CD laser or mech but it cannot be less than 400/500 €

Probably I have to pay more than 1000€ to fix an 8 years old  naim product.

Do you agree that's a very frustrating situation ?

You would best getting a proper quote for everything together from your dealer or local distributor and then take a view on the best course of action.
