Upgrading - Amp

So I have my Atom.....for better or worse it's not changing as my front end and pre-amp...I love it and have no interest in 272/252 or whatever they are. (Unless it comes with a fancy dial and screen one day)

I have it plumbed into a NAP200dr and I'm just wondering, is there anything I can add to the amp itself as an upgrade. I don't really understand what a lot of the boxes do (Highcaps/supercaps etc)

I'm open to a 250 non DR as realise the DR in my 200 is redundant.

Any ideas on poss upgradeitis...keeping my Atom and fiddling with amps.

If you go any further than a 100 or 200, I would say that you will likely expose the limitations of the Atom as a source/preamp. If you want an upgrade path, you need to look at separates, or a Nova.

Well... the next 'upgrade' path is to change the Atom, for a separate streamer and a separate pre-amp....

Just try Powerlines on 200DR and/or Atom and you will be at the top that upgrade ladder. Done, lucky you! Think of the rest of us. We are all living and craving for the ultimate 552 upgrade before early retirement if not worse, but we all know it is a lost quest now that an unreachable demon is hiding behind. ????

Just a tip. If you trade in your gear for a Nova, not only you downsize to just one box but you upgrade the preamp and the Dac section considerably, while retaining the same muscle.

As I suspected, I already have the powerline lites, the full powerline is just too much money for me to spend on a plug......I'm sure it has it's benefits, but I really doubt they could add that much more......on a bang to buck ratio to my little setup. (probably wrong)

The Atom just sits nicely, and is super aesthetically pleasing and I hide all the other boxes away....(Phono stage/Amp) and I use it as a centre. The Nova is just that bit to chunky for what I am after. I have had "proper" pre amps etc before....I'm just a sucka for the shiny stuff.

That’s what home domos are for, you get to try for yourself whether a full fat powerline is worth the outlay.

What is feeding the Atom, do you have ripped discs, downloads or just streaming?

I'd look at the source and a Core as probably the best step up if you are not using that?
