Adding SD storage to Astell + Kern Kann

Posted by: Bruce Woodhouse on 20 July 2018

I know there are a few Kann users out there. Have any of you had issues adding an SD card?

I have bought a Kingston Canvas Go! 512GB card and the device just will not recognise it. I have tried re-formatting to FAT 32 but still no go. Just does not seem to recognise it has been inserted.

Any suggestions?

I have emailed AK but no reply in 48hrs

Isn't the limit 256 GB ?

My JR only takes 128 GB

KANN has an internal memory of 64GB, but this can be easily and flexibly boosted via the unit's dual memory card slots. KANN supports both standard SD cards and micro SD cards, so users can select their preferred memory type. The memory is expandable up to 512 GB to easily handle larger audio files. That is a maximum of 256Gb per slot this was from the AK Website

The manufacturers website makes it clear that the SD card slot can take 512 on top of the micro SD 256 and internal storage. See below direct cut-n-paste below. Some 3rd party websites sate otherwise. Maybe AK will get back to me to clarify....
