NAC/AP 552/500 connected to Vintage Technics SB-7000 speakers
Posted by: Salvo on 25 July 2018
Hi all,
I wrote some time ago about the topic but only now I have a chance to get the Technics SB-7000 speakers. I guess it's a specific question but maybe someone has had the chanche of putting the 2 together.
Any Comments?
Thanks.

I'd be interested in hearing what you find out. It will probably sound great because what you put into a speaker determines what comes out of it.
Over the years I have tried lots of speakers: esoteric at times, standard at other times; the result has always left me a bit unsatisfied and with less and less money in my pocket. I then found the best sound with an old pair of Thiel CS 2.3 with which I have enjoyed my music over the last 5 years. So yes I think that the amp has to be right, the speaker has to be good but not necessarily state of the art nor stupidly expensive as they are now.
That'll be an interesting combination. As a kid, i always used to collect the various Hi-Fi brochures and remember the Technics brochure and the 7000 series with their massive paper cone woofers (very JBL like) and grab handles. Always wondered what they sounded like.
Post some pictures please if you get them
I would say get them if the price is ok and if you have the room for them.
Almost wonder if It’s a combo Richard has heard

He's probably got a pair stored away somewhere
I've never heard a pair, but would love to do so. As you know, Technics presses my nostalgia buttons in a big way and I still have some of the catalogues I used to pore over as a boy. Those SB-7000s look super-cool, however they sound...
The only Technics speakers I have are two pairs of their delightful miniature "bolide" at the opposite end of the size scale - the SB-F1
If you like how the speakers work in your listening room, the 552/500 will make them appear to disappear and just leave the music. All it takes is transparency, grip and a speaker well matched to the room.
