NS01 gone from network

Posted by: DGHB on 30 July 2018

  1. SuperUniti can not “see” NS01 as a UPnP source.
  2. As advised by naim, I reboot the NS01:
    1. Press and hold the power switch on the front of NS01 until it flashes
    2. NS01 shuts down
    3. Disconnect the mains cable and leave for a couple of minutes
    4. reconnect power and power up again using the front power switch
  3. NS01 works for a while, ie it can be seen on the network as a UPnP source
  4. Then NS01 only plays one track of an album: eventually disappears from network
  5. I try to reboot NS01 again, but the front button on the NS01 is unresponsive, ie does not flash and NS01 does not shut down.

Any ideas?

I’d suggest re-booting all your network components, especially the switch / modem / router. This is the one that most likely distributes and allocates the IP addresses on your network. Just shut everything down one by one.
Start your switch / modem / router first. Wait few minutes. Start other network componets one-by-one.

Regarding No 5 of DGHB's list, you can shut down the NS01 by turning the mains off if the unit does not respond to the normal front panel press. It isn't recommended to do this too often but it's ok if there is no other way. If the unit hangs like this too often, then it may need looking at by a Naim service agent, i.e. The factory if it's UK.

I agree with Adam's advice about restarting the router etc, but if the NS01 exhibits this inability to be turned off frequently then it suggests a problem with the NS01 rather than the network or streamer or the app.
