New audio room

I have been really busy ..... recently - unfortunately my mother in law died (yeah I know - mother-in-law jokes  etc but I was quite close to her and she is missed) ..... which meant a reshuffle of rooms in our house (cloud/silverlining) .......... so the upside was my small office was changed to a reasonable sized room - still small. Before - I used to listen  - close up a bit like a mixing studio - which worked very well - serving me well when I had long sessions working on the pc using the little but mighty PMC20.21's and a Velodyne DD10+ sub. However now... my job has changed and I no longer need a dedicated office - the new room is like a mini listening/demo room - with a settee - rug and now my speakers are on proper speaker stands instead of Kan wall brackets. Anyway the room is such that I could only really set it up one way ..... cross ways...(I will post some pics soon) ...fortunately the room features an attic style ceiling and echo and reverb seems pretty low. Anyway I had a grand switch on this week end .... and it sounds great! Speakers seem more tuneful with more punch - stereo imaging is better - but most importantly it sounds together and rhythmic even though system was not fully warmed through - I am delighted. It is still a humble space - and ultimately I will probable upgrade my PMC's - I am building a set Kans  .... from Falcon with matched drivers and super crossover parts and a super stiff/damped plywood cabinet ........ time will tell. I haven't got the Velodyne sub connected yet ....... but to honest the little PMC's are so good ... I am not missing it too much at the present.....

Whilst a luxury for most folk, a dedicated room or at least one where the hifi positioning can be a priority really makes a huge difference. The ability to get speakers out from the walls, plus play around with different  acoustic treatments made a huge difference for me.
