Posted by: Mike-B on 06 August 2018
Here is the latest RAJAR radio listening figures published last Thursday (2/8/18)
Qtr-2 2017 % | Qtr-1 2018 % | Qtr-2 2018 % | |
AM/FM | 51.3 | 49.1 | 49.8 |
All Digital | 48.7 | 50.9 | 50.2 |
DAB | 34.5 | 36.8 | 36.3 |
DTV | 5.4 | 4.8 | 4.6 |
On Line | 8.8 | 9.3 | 9.3 |
Last Qtr passed the UK.Gov target of 50% (analogue vs digital) to start the FM switch off process. This 2nd Qtr of 2018 looks like its all started to go in reverse. FM listening has grown by 0.7%, All Digital incl DAB is down, most notable is the drop in DTV, On-Line (webradio) flatlined.
Despite the stall in DAB listening growth, DAB set ownership has continued to grow over the 2017/18 year showing Qtr-2 numbers going from 59.5% to 62.5%
I not found any new news on the BBC led initiative of keeping FM for the foreseeable future.
