NAC202 - headphone amp connectivity

Posted by: BenW on 06 August 2018

I'm looking at picking up a used 202, so need to clarify this position.

The question is on where to take a feed for the headphone amp.  I already have a nice class A headphone amp, which has its own volume control, so can work with either a fixed or variable output.  Am I right in thinking the AV output is a permanent fixed output?  While it would be 'nice' to use the 202 volume control it isn't essential.

What do you do? (or is there a normal recommendation for this requirement?!)

Thanks!

You should use one of the three Tape Outs (Tape, Av, AUX1). This is a fixed line level output to feed either a recorder, loop a processor, or feed a headphone amp.  All you need is a suitable interconnect with the correct Tape Out pins connected.
