Pro-Ject MKII vinyl cleaning machine running off an adapter

Posted by: Rotifer217 on 08 August 2018

I'm not sure whether this question is appropriate for this forum as it is only very distantly linked to my Naim system, but here goes in case someone may ba able to provide advice.

I am looking at purchasing a Pro-Ject MKII vinyl cleaning machine and they are considerably cheaper in the UK than in NZ.  However, if I order one from the UK it will have a UK plug.  Does anyone have advice on whether running it off an UK:NZ adapter will solve the problem or is this a question for an electrician?  Please note, I'm not interested in any suggestions involving me doing anything electrical - I just want to plug it in and turn it on.

The voltage and frequancy are the same, nominally, so no reason you can’t if replacing a plug isn’t an option.

It should be simple to remove the UK plug and fit a NZ Tapon plug. Failing that, keep the UK plug and use an adaptor.

Having moved from the UK to NZ, I can confirm that all my UK appliances and HiFi work fine - just remove the UK plug and replace with a New Zealand one. Readily available from Countdown, Mitre 10, Bunnings or any electrical supplier  ... it's the same voltage here in NZ as the UK, so you are good to go

I just purchased the Project mk2 RCM a few weeks ago, it’s a nicely built piece of kit that works extremely well...... I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

Actually it has just occurred to me that the Project RCM has a detachable mains lead with an IEC input socket.  So you could just buy a ready-made NZ plugged IEC lead and use that.
