Happy 202 / HiCap / 200 users

Hi,

So I’ve had this modest  setup for a few years and this evening I have to say it just sounds fine to my ears.

Are there any other satisfied. 200/HiCap/200 users? Or must we aspire to 252/SuperCap/300?

Tongue in cheek tho ;-)

Regards

Shaun

I have worked up to a 202/200 Napsc and a power supply (!). TQ Black 2 cables to Kudos C10's. Source is an LP 12 with some upgrades. Absolutely loving it and I will never ever upgrade!! Well not for a year or two anyway.

Never like the TQ cables. You may fine it worth it to "upgrade" to NACA 5 or Superlumina cables....

I have 202/200 with NAPSC and HCDR driving PMC twenty.24's. I've spent 25 years getting to this point so really appreciate what I have. Unfortunately I have a mate who once had similar set-up. He added the 282 and it was a significant improvement. I can't quite get that out of my head and will probably end up going for a used 282 at some point.

Yes, for me I would like to get as much out of the source (CD5XS + DAC) as possible without going too far the other way and the amps/PS (I have same as you now) exposing the source limitations. I am mindful of efficiency and VFM when upgrading so it don’t think it will be straight swap 282 for 202 but maybe 282/250 for 202/200 or the ultimate for me 252/250DR/SCDR adding the HC to the trade-in. For me the driver is the 250 I just feel the extra juice could work wonders

Callum, yep totally agree regards source. I have Unitiserve into Hugo 2. Next upgrade options would be Hugo 2 to TT2 v 200 to 282. The esteemed wisdom on this site suggests consideration of pre-amp as part of source. I think i'm a good 12 months away from trying any such comparisons though.

Love that this thread starts by calling the system “modest”.

I suppose modest in Naim terms would be a fair description of a 202/200.

In the correct room with the correct speaker as Ryder points out the 200 can be big and full bodied as well as having it's normal nimble character and the 202 is a perfect match.

I found that the 202/200 especially liked analogue sources and bigger speakers even underpowered bigger speakers in a smallish room sounded better than the bookshelf /standmounted speakers I tried.

I just went from Witchhat Phantom to Tellurium QB

I "upgraded" the Phantom from A5

Guess its all system dependable, they all have their signatures

Lumina is quite another price range alltogether, guess a bit of a waste in a 200/202 combo looking at other alternatives
