Dust

What is the recommended method of dust removal from the exterior of my Naim components?
Damp, microfibre cloth, lint-free.
Duster
I use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment, works a treat.
Lovely wife????
+1 for the minimal damp microfibre cloth.... unfortunately these black boxes collect one heck of an amount of dust...
Thanks to all for your timely replies. The microfiber cloth is my choice.
I use a microfibre cloth as well. A few times a year I use Novus 1 to polish my Naim boxes. Novus 1 makes the Naim boxes blacker (compared to a dark grey). It also renders the surface anti static, so less dust accumulates on it.
Lat year I bought a new ND5 XS. When I took it out of the box and the plastic wrap, little paper bits were stuck to it because of static. A quick wipe of Novus 1 and all static was gone. The ND5 XS even looked better! I have been using this stuff for years and it is safe on all plastic and metal surfaces.
For dust and fingerprints, we used a 50/50 solution of distilled water and isopropyl alcohol. That with just kitchen paper to remove marks from fingers or from rubber feet if stacked.
Followed by any domestic dusting nethid mentioned above.
Glass cleaner* and an absorbent cloth for the tops and sides - latter when the Fraim has been stripped and rebuilt. Obviously, don't spray the rear/front.
For kit on Fraim shelves (standard height) with shelves above, I have one of those dust capturing furry wand things, which is a snug fit between the kit and the shelf above - although it seems to disturb more dust than it captures.

+1 for Glass cleaner and microfibre.
Pledge fluffy dusters - work a treat and don’t seem to stir the dust up in the process.
I use Servisol spray combined with a duster.
It costs about seven quid and lasts a decade.
Also better to keep off the dust wih some covers

Be careful!
I used to do that until I foolishly tried to suck the dust out from the headphone socket. It somehow displaced something inside and I wasn't able to insert the headphone plug anymore. After some poking around I finally got it back to normal. Since then it's been disposable dusters and damp microfiber for me.

You don't have to go mad, it's just dust at the end of the day. A long horse hair brush attachment on low power is harmless, I've been doing it years without any problems. If one is 'extreme' with things then there is going to be problems in any situation. Common sense prevails...

Looks like the owl could introduce sub-sonic ceramic vibration issues...
Dyson vacuum cleaners come with carbon fibre and microfibre suction attachments: useful for solid, relatively robust surfaces.
A damp microfibre cloth followed up by use of a polishing microfibre cloth is best to date.
Autoglym Fast glass is good for Fraim and acrylic lid of LP12, if necessary, e.g. stubborn marks.
or Bi-Frost.
Naim use a medium density foam pad and spray glass cleaner to clean up cases.

You might end up Billy no mates ????????
I know..I actually use a fluffy static cloth on a stick for dust and spray glass cleaner for fingerprints.

Actually, I’ve noticed a micro scratch on my new Nova, so either Wifey or daughter may end up Billy no mates.....
I liked the cleaning mode feature on the MuSo whereby it locks out the volume control in case you accidentally jack up the volume while cleaning - would have been nice if they carried it over to the Unities. I just use the cloth provided and it seems to work well.
Combinations of e-cloth, fluffy static cloth stick thang, foam pad damped with glass cleaner if I find front panel finger marks & once a year all over & under with mini vacuum cleaner followed by foam pad with glass cleaner.

With both the Core and Nova it’s easy to just slightly miss the usb socket first attempt which kind of freaks me out just in case of scratches.

It’s on the top edge, a bang with the remote I think. A constant battle to have “others” not put things on top of swanky stereo things. Shoe polish should do the job, and the band plays on.
