Anybody hear the Kudos titan 606 and are these a good sounding speaker.

Posted on: 29 August 2018 by Nick Lees

Yes, and yes. Fast, very very articulate, very good bass for their size.

They need quality front end and amps, Nova, PMC Cor a minimum, preferably better like 272/250 etc.

Thanks for reply will the 606 be good in room 11ft x 16ft.

They should be fine.....but try a home demo.

Titan 606 is a great sounding speaker. Was at a demo a couple of weekends ago. They were driven by a 272/250.  I helped set up the demo and unlike a lot of speakers I'm familiar with we found they don't need to be set out too far in the room.  We settled on 16" from the back wall. Too far out really changed the sound presentation. They didn't need too much toe in either. To me they had all the characteristics of the 808 just on a smaller level.

I have owned the 606 for about 6 months. System is ND555, 555 PS, 552, 300, all DR. Room is modest in size (22 x 14?). Speakers are very close to wall - dealer set it all up. They are fine speakers. Quick and engaging. Beautiful, too

Oh yes, they’re fab. Another VERY happy owner here.

I should recount that I arranged a dem of 606s and 707s at Cymbiosis earlier this year, with the expectation of preferring the 707s, which I’d heard at Bristol a couple of times and really liked. In fact I was fully intending to order a pair if they were as good as they had been on the previous occasions. But, as it turned out, although they did indeed sound at least as good as they had done in Bristol and, yes, they had more scale and bottom end, it was the 606s that called to me.

Everything about the 606s is just delightful - articulate, alluring, musical and just so easy to listen to for hours on end. They go as deep as you’d like in my very modestly proportioned listening room, have real grunt and time as if JV himself had a hand in tuning them. Very highly recommended  - end-game speaker for me, no question.

They certainly enjoy quality up stream, mine are loving the recent addition of 500DR, but I’d say they’d be happy with a “modest” 250.

If I could make it to Leicester at the end of this week, I’d very like to hear what they sound like at the new Naim streamer event they’re holding. That should be very interesting indeed.

I have heard them at a demo day on the end of a 272/555PS/Nap250DR and they sounded very good.

Not wishing to hijack the thread, but does anyone have an ETA on the 505's?

I think sometime in Sept or early Oct. I'll ask my local dealer if he has a more precise idea. His wife is the distributor in the USA.

Any more of the 606 vs 707 comparison you can give us?  I have a chance to audition at home, but it's a process requiring them to be shipped in, and I was thinking to start with the 707's.  Also in a modest-sized room.

Be aware the 707’s weigh 50kg each so 2 man job to shift them. My room is approx 6x5m and they work very well. Mine are against the  wall as that’s how I heard them setup by Derek from Kudos at a event. So maybe not too fussy speaker when it comes to placement. Maybe will experiment and move them further out from the wall after my kit gets serviced and DR’d .

Havn’t heard the 808’s but the rest of the Titan range have a similar musical presentation, just the 707’s have a bit extra scale and depth then the 606 or 505’s.

Posted on: 30 August 2018 by Bart

I sit barely more than 3 meters (10 feet) from my speakers; the 707's may well be "too big" for such an arrangement.

That would be very much appreciated.

Mike where are located?

Posted on: 30 August 2018 by TK421

I am in the UK. South Wales to be more accurate.

I met Derek back in March and he was talking about the 505's being available around May/June.

I'm not really sure whats held them up. I could be very wrong but I think it might be more to do with their designated stands rather than the speakers themselves.

Bart & Dave, thank you for your comments, I'm in the market for speaker and one of the considerations is placement from the wall of 3-feet or less and respect for Naim sound. My new home offers at least 12 feet or more from probable speaker placement to sidewalls. I'm using NAC552DR, NAP300DR and CDS3 w/PS555DR, will get ND555 at time of speaker purchase. Kudos is known for a familial sound to Naim, but finding USA dealer is challenging and more so  a dealer carries and understands Naim.  Any speaker suggestions especially with modest footprint will be appreciated.

It’s difficult; I wouldn’t be so stupid to say that the 606s are better, just that they’re better for me, and in the context of my room, they’re a perfect fit. I would, however, suggest that if you sit 10 feet away, you might find they’re a better fit fit you. I’m 7 feet from mine, if that helps.

They both absolutely love Naim amps. I ran mine with 552DR and 300DR initially and it was a tremendous combo. With your room and without the opportunity to easily home dem, I don’t think you would be unhappy with 707s

I too am interested in the 606s but have a rather small listening room. I would like to know just how close to the rear wall they can be positioned? 12", 6" or what? All thoughts most welcome.

My local dealer said they are shipping now. He will be showing them at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest in the USA.

Thanks for the info.

Still very strange they are not listed under 'Products' on the Kudos website as of yet. I will give my local dealer a call and see what they have to say on the matter.

Although mine are 16” away, they will certainly tolerate much closer. Afaik most other users have them positioned closer than I do.

My 707’s sit about 11” away, do have space behind the sofa as well but no problem from this distance. Puts you on the front row!

love the new range from Kudos, for me the 606 are really on my radar, great sounding speaker

revealing focus and easy to drive, I have 300DR so NO issues there, personally I prefer them to the larger T707 but not to the big boss T808 which are the best speakers I have listened too

for me its a straight fight between the 505 & 606 - but yet to hear the 505 but has some very very good feedback

But 606 are superb
