Unity Core sounds better with NAS?

Hi!

Huh...strange thing happened yesterday...

I was listening to music from my new NAS through the Core and I had the impression, that it sounded much better than the same music from the disk inside the Core (SSD)...

Have to check this out further when I am back home on Sunday...but did anyone with a Core experience the same?

I experienced the core HDD and Nas HDD to be more or less equal when my wife and I did blind listening tests through the Core. However blind tests with Nas through NAC-N272 and Core through 272 showed a consistent preference for the Core. I suspect that different NAS will impart a different sound signature but why this should be as it's in the digital domain I don't know! Rich

Maybe I can specify :

I listened to an album through the Core (album on the Core SSD) and then to the same album through the Core but taken from the NAS.

The Core goes through the nDAC.

So it seemed to me that "Core + internal SSD" sounded not as good as "Core + NAS HDD" ...

Shows how we all perhaps differ in the way we perceive music. There's many 'right' ways to get the results we're listening for and the 'right' one for the individual is the one that gives you the most pleasure. Rich
