So trying to leave my Nova on 24/7 for some quicker fuse burn in as realised standby is probably barely trickle.
Anyway I tried just playing and setting a Tidal playlist to repeat, but unsure why after a few hours the Nova has powered down.
Anyway decided to change standby to "Never", frustrating you cannot leave the display on clock (Or display off as mentioned would be), after a short while it defaults to the home screen - so I'm worried about screen burn.
Interestingly after 15-20 mins the display shuts off, but the buttons and Naim logo stay on. Pressing the remote brings the screen to life, but no relay clicking power down.
So I assume setting standby to "never" keeps the unit fully powered ?
So what does the SMPS for standby do, just enough for discovery mode ?
Also is the shandy SMPS mode enough to keep the equipment optimal ?

That’s not how mine behaves - I have the default 15 mins standby and can leave internet radio singing to itself for days at a time without the Nova going into standby.
I’m fairly sure the standby timer starts when the input stops so I’m guessing Tidal is dropping on yours which is starting the countdown to standby.
I can see the various folders on the Nova from my PC when the Nova is in standby so I’d guess server functionality is there, at least to some degree beyond discovery.
I’d assume Naim’s designers know what they are doing so I’d say yes to your last question too,

There is an important distinction here. There are two standby modes.
In Network Standby Mode, the unit is still powered by the linear supply and discoverable. It can be woken up by the app and told to play. You can leave it on this mode all the time if you want to.
In Deep Sleep Mode the Nova is powered by the SMPS and nothing works except that if you press the standby button it will wake up and be then powered by the linear supply. You can read all of this and how you get the two standby modes in the support wizard on the Naim website.

I mean something different, not network or deep sleep standby, but no standby but screen off.
Just came home after a few hours and screen still but no in any form of standby, just the display off, but Naim logo and buttons backlit.

You don’t say if it’s silent ! Best to check - I assumed when you said it had “powered down” that it was in some form of standard standby situation. Are you saying that all that happened is that the display is blank, or that the machine seems to be in stadby but with the button lights still on ?
whichever it sounds like a call to Naim is in order.

Sorry to clarify, silent as in no active input, just on the default Home Screen. The standby setting must be set to never, after no active input the screen goes off, but the Naim logo and buttons stay active.
I'd call it a power on display screen off situation, sadly only when no active source.
Only benefit I can see is IF there is a benefit leaving powered on full time as opposed to EU standby. As mentioned i just stumbled across it trying to break in fuse in.
So not an issue but maybe useful to someone.

Ok so used my TP Link Energy Monitor, for the Nova, note I have server mode off.
1. Deep sleep = 0W
2. Standby = 0.45W
3. Power On = 30W
4. Power On (20 mins screen timeout) = 29W
5. Power On Playing Music = 30W
So as I thought scenario 4 is basically power always on.
But standby and deep sleep is impressive, but does standby mean device is not always cooking and ready to go like old style and classic line boxes.
Note my EBAC uses 207W as a random reference.
