Uniti Core does see any Network Drives

Help !!
I've just put a new SSD drive into my Uniti Core and defined that as a music store and ripped a CD to it. All good.
However, when I try to define some of my NAS drives as music stores on the Uniti Core via the Naim app / UnitiCore / Settings / Manage Music / Configure Music Stores / View Network Drives it reports, "No drives found".
Similarly when scanning for music shares I get the message, "No drives found".
I have followed David Hendon's advice and reset the Uniti Core to factory settings, but still now view of any network drives.
Am I doing something wrong, or is there a problem?
Try rebooting your router.
And powering down and up the Core and streamer (deep sleep mode on Core - 3 second long press on power button, then wake up again).
I had same prob (but not saying its the same cause). Even tho I'd told my dealer I wanted an Android device to run the Naim app he set up IOS not Fat32 on the external hard drive, So my android tablet couldnt see them tho the ipad could.
Are the shares you can’t see on Windows machines ?
No, they are (a) Synology NAS and (b) NAIM Uniti Serve

Tried that Mike...no difference.
If you go into manage music - music shares and go into scan settings (I think that's what it's called, don't have a core in front of me right now) and change the workgroup from 'naim' to 'workgroup'. This should help.
That was set to WORKGROUP to match the other devices...

It might be a feature In Synology DSM that allows or prevents access to the various shares. You will find it in the Synology GUI Control Panel > File Services .... SMB/AFP/NFS tab > Check box "Enable SMB Service". With that box checked it allows Windows access to the Music & other shares. You might need to keep that activated (checked) to function with your UnitiServe

Tried it in lower case?
I might be wrong but I think you can only define one music store. Also you may have problems if there's hidden files within the folder in your Nas that you wish to use as a music store. The folder in the nas must not have any folders such as recycle bin or system files. Rich
Rich is correct in both regards. There is no need to have more than one music store (which is where the Core saves its own rips) and you cannot define several stores. The NAS folders, if you want the Core to index files there, should be defined as music share(s) rather than a music store. You can have several music shares. The relevant NAS folder has to be completely empty to allow it to be a music store, if that is really what you want. The Core's internal drive would then become a music share and the Core would save its on rips to the NAS folder you defined as the music store.
The whole business of the Core recognising shares and the way PCs and Macs talk to the Core is something Naim have been looking at and I expect we will see the results of that soon.....

It seems a bit odd that you can only have one Music Store, where you could have multiple stores with the old Naim servers. What happens when you run out of space?

You just define a new store and the old one becomes a share. The point is that you have to tell the Core where it should save its own rips and the way Naim have you do that is by making the chosen place the store.

Hi David, so if you define a new Store, is the contents of the old one transferred to it, or is it left in what is now a Music Share? If so, do you then lose the ability to edit your CD rips as they are no longer in the active Store?
This is a Core software problem. I had the exact same... my Core did not find shares sitting on my Qnap or Netgear NAS. I had one of the Naim software gentlemen dial into my system and make some amendments to the Core... then it worked a bit better (saw some of the shares) but not all of them. Unfortunately the exact details are a distant haze in my aging memory (I'm trying desperately to remember what the problem was, but can't... it'll all come back to me around 3am tomorrow morning).
This, together with the inability of the Core to present the different shares to a streamer so that I could choose, for example, to see the contents of my HiDef folder or my MP3 folder, ...was why the Core went back to my dealer and the NS01 remains my music server of choice
As for "S'il n'y a pas de solution c'est qu'il n'y a pas de problème" , I'd say this "Il y a certainement un problème, mais la solution reste un mystère"

Chris no they are not transferred, although you can do that easily if you want to using the backup and restore functions in the Core. It's a very interesting question as to whether you can still edit the old rips using the app and it hadn't occurred to me before. I rather think the answer is that you can still edit using the app and probably that you shouldn't edit with a PC. Perhaps someone else who knows the answer can tell us!
I suspect that when you define a new store, it becomes the active store but the old store isn't actually changed in any way. It just is no longer the active store.....

I am not sure if this is relevant, but on my Core, when I go under “manage music stores”... >view store> I only see the SSD drive inside the Core, which holds my CD rips only. But,still under “manage music stores”, > “view local drives”, I see the SSD drive AND the MY passport external drive that I have plugged into the back of the Core. There is nothing under Music shares,so it appears that I have two stores,I think.I am still having trouble seeing the downloads folder on my windows PC though.

I just checked this setting on my Core,it is set to “Naim”...should I change mine to “Workgroup” ?.What exactly will this do/change?

I think "view local drives" just means that, not that they are both stores. I'm not sure why your Core can't see the My passport as a potential share though. Do you have music on the My passport and can you select and play it via the app?

I'm not convinced this will make any difference, but you could try.

Yes David,I have over 2 Terabytes on the passport, and I see it all,and can play it all with the App.It is all mixed together with the SSD contents. With regard to the Workgroup setting...I just want to be sure I will not screw something up if I try changing it.I noticed “J Saville “ has “trade member” next to his name,so does this mean he is a Naim employee, and who’s advice should be followed?
I believe that means he is a dealer and not a Naim employee. Of course he will have lots of relevant experience but anyway you can always change it back if it doesn't help, so probably worth trying.
I would suggest restarting your Core after making the change otherwise it may not get picked up by anything else.

I changed the setting to workgroup, restarted the Core...but do not see any change.
OK Folks, here is what I did.
Ensured that the SMB process was running on all NAS drives ( legacy windows support enabled on Netgear NASs) and then shutdown the ROUTER and the WINDOWS 10 PC that was on the home network.
Rebooted the ROUTER.
Went to the UNITI CORE and I could now see all NAS directories on the various NAS devices.
Imported the MQ directory under Manage Music Import Music from the (Netgear) NAS to the Music Store on the UNITI CORE - which is still running....
