Currently have SN1/HiCap DR/250DR and am looking to upgrade the pre amp stage as the weak link in the chain.
My one reservation is whether a replacement for the 252 could be round the corner. I know that SC DR has been upgraded over the lifetime of the 252, but if I am to upgrade would rather do it once, although fully appreciate that future trade in on 252 is likely to get me a long way towards the cost of the next one.
Am not on mainland UK, so a second hand 552 would not be the easiest to sort, although not impossible.
Any suggestions appreciated.

I would not be holding my breath for new pre-amps. Lots have suggested the gap between 252 and 552 needs filling but the range has been like this for some time. Naim tends to change products when new technology arrives rather than just for the sake of it. If they could seriously improve the 252 it might threaten 552 sales too.
New nSub? Since Naim don't make any other speakers that looks a fairly outside bet. New active crossovers when they don't actually make active speakers any more looks even less likely! What new advances would seriously improve them anyway?

Just want to say thank you to everyone for your feedback so far. Given me a lot to think about over the coming weeks. Glad people have been enjoying the thread and the nature of the responses are, for me, the forum at its best.

Crispy, as a recent convert to the 252 from SN2, if you can make the change now, "just do it." You'll enjoy the change immediately, and to me that's the key. Enjoy in the present; we have no idea what the future brings.
