DSD Files

Posted by: Mr Paws on 05 September 2018

Good Morning all,  Sorry I know this subject  has been covered on this forum but I’m new to DSD and was going to buy some DSD music today but I’m not sure which DSD to buy?

There are two available, 2.8mhz and 5.8mhz so I’m assuming,  going by what my SU can play,’single rate’ the 2.8mhz is the one to go for?

I’m also assuming that the 5.8mhz files are of higher quality hence why they are more expensive?

Thanks in advance chaps..????????

Yes,  with SuperUniti & all the 'legacy' streamers 2.8MHz is the one to go for.   2.8MHz is also labelled DSD64 by some vendors to add to the confusion,  the 64 number indicates its 64x faster than CD.   2.8MHz (DSD64) is aprx eq to a sample rate of 24/88.2kHz.

@MR Paws

Which file format will you be purchasing? If there is a choice you should opt for .dsf rather than .dff files as dsf files support metadata tags whereas dff files do not.

As mention Naim DSD64 only, anything higher will not play.

I purchased a few favorites to play form USB, simply sublime.

Where did you download them from as I’m thinking of doing the same?
