NaitXS best input for rega phono pre

Nait XS Flatcap xs

just a quick question...

should I connect the output of the rega phonoamp into the AV input of the Nait XS with a red coloured Chord Phono to DIN lead - the DIN plug will fit into this but not Aux 2

( is there control of the sensitivity of this?)

or phono to phono (audioquest I think) to the Aux input on the Nait?

thanks!

Personally I'd use phonos as Naim provide the input and it's the input out of the Rega Fono (whichever one you have). I never really liked mixing DIN & phono in the same lead. No doubt many won't have a problem with that. I used the Aux on the Supernait 2 for the same purpose.

It sounds like you have a Chord Crimson RCA phono to Din interconnect. That's a good one for the job, and all else being equal, using the Din input is usually better than the RCA phono, so an RCA - DIN interconnect is the next best thing to an all-DIN interconnect.

If you use the AV input then make sure you don't have Unity Gain enabled otherwise you won't have any control over volume.

I use the tuner input on my 102 for no other reason than it is an analogue input. Is there any reason why you can't use any of the other Din inputs apart from the av?

The din plug fits that one and the tape input (?) So I could use either? thanks

You can use any of the 180 degree DIN inputs - unless of course they're already taken (on either Din or RCA Phono).

thanks as ever!

Tuner input has served me well in the past...some support for this in early trials held by others as well. Try it and see if you can hear the difference?
