Audio Show East

Posted by: Gazza on 14 September 2018

For those interested Audio show east is Nov 2nd and 3 rd which is only a few weeks away if those that live outside of the east Anglia want and need to plan a trip. I am sure Richard and Signals will post something pretty soon, but those interested can look at the Signals site for the latest exhibitors. I thoroughly enjoyed it last year...others who have been to the big events are better able to compare. And it’s free....voluntary charity contribution last year. Anyway, more for those who would have to plan a trip.

Good luck, it’s rather heavy!

I'll hopefully be going on Saturday. Yet to negotiate the passout.

Remember, for those Forumites going who want to be identified as such and want to meet other Forumites, there will be special name tags at reception for you to write your forum name on. Just note on the online booking you are a Forumite.

I went last year and failed to meet any Forumites - no way of identifying you.

And no, I don't actually sport a Fez but am just as ugly as my comedy hero.

Posted on: 11 October 2018 by Gazza

The Fez would have done it for most of us......?

Posted on: 11 October 2018 by nigelb

Gazza, see amendment to my post above which should clarify things about my appearance.

Posted on: 11 October 2018 by Gazza

That’s not fair Tommy Cooper was not ugly.....a bit cuddly, a genius for his time......and not crude as some comedians these days , just for the sake of it.

Posted on: 11 October 2018 by nigelb

That is one of the reasons I love Tommy's comedy. He never swore, was never crude, sometimes rather silly (which I love) and always very funny. With the exception of one of his series on ITV, to me the man was a comedy genius.

He's no looker though, which was part and parcel of his charm.

RIP Tommy, you are missed.

Just a reminder, the full line up is now posted on the Signals Hifi website. Some interesting pairings, and as ever a Naim is well represented. NDX2/ND5xs2/Supernait with Kanta3. Statement amps with PMC Fenestria, nd555/500 series with new Dynaudio speakers and much, much more. Melco N10 first outing in public, new Russell K 150 SE speakers. Should be a great couple of days cu there.

Thanks for pointing that out Gazza,I hope some of you nice chaps get a chance to go hear the new Dynaudio Confidence line, and report back here. Also,I would love to hear comparisons of the Confidence 20 (standmount) versus the Kudos Titan 505’s,That are supposed to be there too.Exciting times ahead...

Posted on: 25 October 2018 by Gazza

I am sure we will, the nice thing about the show is some of the pairings....not all of the Naim amps will be just tied to Focal speakers. I am looking forward to hearing the pairings you mention, and I mention Russell K as he generally puts together a cracking system, the 150,s sound good, so a special edition version should be interesting. Anyone with the current 150 can upgrade their speakers to SE edition, not sure how much though.

I believe it will be the first time the new Confidence line will be heard, other than at Dynaudio headquarters.Otto, who is the product manager there, said they are way ahead of all previous Confidence models,so expect them to be really good,I have and still do own many of their speakers, the C1’s were the best moniter I have owned of the brand.

A great line up as always. Hope to see many of you there. Pam and I will be there for the Friday session.

Should be an interesting show. I went last year and Naim were very well represented and it looks like they will be again this year.

I will be going on the Friday and hope to meet some forumites. Remember, this year the organisers are helping us forumites identify ourselves by having special forum name labels for you to put your forum name on if you wish. Just flag you are a forum member when you book on line or when you turn up.

Nigel - can’t you come on Saturday?

Posted on: 25 October 2018 by nigelb

I was planning to come Saturday but we have taken a booking for a large party at the pub that day, so it has to be Friday.

It is a shame I will miss meeting up with you. If you are going to the Bristol Show in Feb maybe we can meet there.

Anyone, who is able to attend the show. I cannot, due to the distance involved. Please can you find out if there is any information about a replacement 272, If necessary, thumb screws are permissible

Posted on: 26 October 2018 by Gazza

Tried that last year on Phil Harris.....problem was he seemed to enjoy it, though no harm asking the innocent question????

Posted on: 26 October 2018 by nigelb

Gazza, what day are you going?

My dealer told me a couple of days ago when I traded in my 272 and said ...well it is a current  model ...in an effort to get a better price  ...that he had been told by naim to get rid of any stock ...it was going very soon

Unfortunately no news on the replacement

I have a 2 day pass????I notice it was your birthday this week any nice prezzies or saving up for a birthday and Xmas combined Hifi prezzy.

Posted on: 26 October 2018 by Atom/Iota/Kan Stands

I have just registered for the Saturday.  This is my first time at a hifi show.

I love my Naim Atom and Iotas, so I can't wait to hear what all this expensive Naim stuff sounds like!!

I hope to be moving up to the Suffolk border in a year or so, and want to find a house with a large man cave, rather than a modest study I have at the moment, and then I will consider upgrading, so this should be informative.

Make sure you get a forum badge when signing in Tony, would be good to chat. It was my first Hifi show and was really enjoyable plenty of opportunities to talk to the likes of Chord, Naim etc

Look forward to meeting you on the Friday then. My wife's birthday is soon and we have a deal this year, no expensive prezzies, and she kept to the deal.

Looking forward to meeting you with your new socks????

Posted on: 30 October 2018 by Signals UK

We have a fair number of registrations, thank you, and a lot of forum members. Saturday is actually the lighter day if pre-bookings are to be believed. Remember that pre-registering gets you into the free raffle.

Not long now, gulp.

Looking forward to the show, not long now.  Really want to hear the PMC Fenestria with Naim Statement. The Dynaudio contour 60 with Naim 500 series system. I have never heard any of the Hifi wares of Primare so that’s another one of particular interest, also the ATC preamp/ amps and CD player as well as their speakers. There is a lot more than this, but just what has caught my eye and fancy.  The guys at a Signals have managed to get a really good selection of manufacturers to support, should be a great couple of days.
