Naim Nova streaming multiroom with Spotify

Posted by: BeppeP on 18 September 2018

Hi guys,

i have a Uniti Nova and two Harbeth 30.1 plugged, as I am streming music from spotify I am wondering if I can pair a wireless speakers as well ( I dont know if through Naim Nova or does Spotify allow me to play on both wired speakers and wifi ones) so i can have the same music played in different rooms.
I am planning to take some Sonos or Denon speakers as they are quite cheap and do what I need, can I pair them with Naim?
thanks,
regards,

Giuseppe

It only applies to other Naim products such as QB, muso etc. The QB would probably be the cheapest way forward to stream from your Nova.

Naim multiroom only works with Naim streamers, so you would need, say, a Muso QB to use it like this. There are other multiroom options you could use with non-Naim streamers, such as Airplay or Roon, depending on what other device you choose, and what you play it from.

so, let's assume that I will not buy a Naim speaker because of the price and the use I will do. In order to stream the same song from Spotify to both wired and wireless speakers, what can I do? At this point I guess that Uniti Nova will not coordinate that..

No it will not. It can be a Spotify connect endpoint only. You need to have a system that can group together as the Spotify app does not support multitroom. Cheap solution would be to have Chromecast devices and sync them in the google home app. This way you get your nova to work with Spotify via Chromecast instead of Spotify connect and be grouped with other Chromecasts in the house. JBL and Harmon Kardon have some some affordable Chromecast enabled speakers.
