Thanks, K

as more detail, I have today had set up by some local friends (I didn’t do a great deal) the following -

two stacks of Fraim (one full fat and another fraimlite converted to full fat)  interestingly, although one is light cherry and the other dark, there is not major visual clash - perhaps helped by the SL2s being maple? Or perhaps the dark being into the corner of the room?

2x300s via snaxo and a hicap into SL2s (preciously just a 300)

nds/555 unitiserve and 52/sc as before

(lp12/lingo1 not connected for now - decorator coming in a few weeks and this was a sort of dry run for the final installation)

from stone cold there was plenty of promise but then I had to hand the room over to my elder daughter for her to study. Teatime had a small play again until younger daughter asked me to turn it down...

Need to have a proper play without anybody else in the house, but there seems to be increased scale and the quality of reproduction of drums in particular (very noticeable on a couple of very different tracks) seems to have leapt up hugely - so much more realistic than before (though it was far from shabby with one 300).

I will post more impressions over the coming days

Glad you’re enjoying the new setup, it must sound great! Regarding the Fraim, Cherry darkens with age, sometimes quite a lot, depending on the finish used, and the amount of daylight (UV) it gets. Give it a couple of years and they’ll probably look the same.

Chris is bang on.  Half of my Fraim is early original and half later, where the darker reddish tint to the Cherry was dropped.  After so many years it has all now mellowed to look pretty much the same.

Glad to hear it's all set up and sounding well. Next thing of course, you'll be itching to hear what a Supercap can do on the SNAXO.  Until then, enjoy!

Managed to catch a bit of listening this morning before coming out - not managed to turn the volume up properly yet but sounding pretty sublime now it’s been on for 24 hours. Lovely

Oh yes. However a SuperLumina lead between the pre amp and SNAXO power supplies is also a really worthwhile investment, see if you can try it. It made a very big difference in my system (albeit with already a Supercap on the SNAXO).

...or just enjoy the music as it is.

My system was flying this weekend because my NDS is back after 3 month or so at the factory. Joy! I decided to DR my 555PS whilst it was away, double joy!
