CDX2 upgrade paths

I have been using CDX2/XPS2 for years. Love the sound. Just wondering if anyone can give me an opinion on the following upgrade:

1) upgrade the XPS2 to XPSDR, is the improvement going to be marginal or ? is it better to sell the XPS2 and buy another XPSDR or upgrade the exiting one ? It's a popular conception that the resale value for "upgraded" XPSDR will be discounted by potential buyers...

2) upgrade to CDS3, would the sound characteristics change dramatically or just a more refined presentation of CDX2 ?

CDS3 is a great CD player, especially with 555PS. Addition of Superlumina DIN transforms it yet further, with oodles of detail.
