Naim 552 preamp: problem with the control panel

Posted by: SensationFreak on 01 October 2018

Hello,

I have since yesterday the following problem with the control panel of the 552 when I want to switch between sources:

When I touch aux1 (or any other source), the button has the green light but it does not "hold" and reverts to AV source (which I use for TV) which stays with its green light.
If I press and hold aux1 (which is my oppo universal player used for CDs/DVDs) the music is playing normally, but when I remove my finger it stops...

If I use the remote, same problem.
There is a circuit board for the control panel but it may not be necessary to change it, may be just a few components on it (a cap or something)?

What is your assessment of the problem? Any idea (please dont answer I have to see my dealer, this will be done anyway...)?

Have you tried unplugging your AV source? Also I would restart your 552 if you haven't tried that.

best

Yup, sounds like something may have scrambled the logic.  I would power down, wait a bit, then power up again.  If it persists then it may be the TV - they tend to float at half mains voltage and when connected to something like a NAC552 with a lovely connection to earth...  Try without the TV connected.
