NDX 2 and Nova

So I'm starting to condense my though processes about upgrading.  Apologies for the rambling background, this could be split into several posts...

When I borrowed an NDX 2 a few weeks ago I was immediately impressed with the improvements over the Nova (usually used with a NAP 250), but only had a short time with the NDX 2.

Complicating issues the NDX 2 was played via a loaned NAC 282/Hi-Cap DR to a NAP 300DR as my NAC 72 was giving a static like tearing noise on one channel.  Having returned these newer components I tried the NAC 72 again and the static noise was initially gone, I'm not certain it isn't some kind of RF interference, or perhaps both.

Anyhow, I've tried the NDX 2 again via NAC 72 and NAP 250DR, and it sounds pretty fine.  Certainly much better than the Nova connected to the 72/250DR.

I'm left with a nagging doubt that the NAC 72 isn't quite 'right' but it is overdue a service, as are various other components.

So since trying the NDX 2 with the NAC 72 I've noticed a few things.

It really does give an insight into music with many albums just sounding completely different.

The other half and I have frequently just looked at each other thinking certain tracks have never sounded like that before.  Backing vocals/instruments really do seem to jump out as discrete entities rather than merging into a background 'sound'.

Vocals are so much clearer and as someone who often struggles to understand lyrics in certain songs without reading them, everything is so much clearer and easier to understand.

It might be better than my LP12 (in need of service) on soe
