Chord Sarum T and Chord Music
Posted by: Franz K on 09 October 2018
I have currently some chord sarum T and chord music cables on trial. Its truly amazing who much more music is in the signal that becomes apparent with both of these chord cables. The first interconnect now replaced with a chord cable is between the SCDR for SL and the Preamp ie a 4/5 pin snaic, while the other one is a 4/4 pin snaic between the psu of the preamp and the SCDR for the snaxo.

Big money (comparatively of course), but worth it? Better than equivalent Naim cables or just "different"?
One of the biggest differences I found was with Chord between my NAC and Supercap/Superline (4-5 pin).
I leave it to the individual to decide whether the difference is +ve or -ve.

I didn’t do any comparisons with sl cables. To my knowledge there is also no sl available to replace the regular naim cable between scdr/superline and pre ie 4/5 pin. The replacement of this signal lead with first a Chord Sarum T and now a chord Music is really stunning. Unbelievable how much further tonal subtleties and nuances these cables convey.
Franz, it gets worse... wait until you try Din/XLRs, Music speaker cable is ridiculous and then you start trying out the streaming cables. Quite absurd how wonderful these cables are.
Franz,
I have changed from Naca 5 and Hi Line to Chord Music speaker cable and interconnect. The difference was unbelievable. much more real so much more music. If I will have the money, I will also change my streaming cable to my NDS to Chord Music.
Put a chord signature tuned aray between my 272 and 250dr
Just to try it like.... after all ..who would waste £800+ on a single cable at that equipment price level
Still got it and consider it to be one of my better buys!!
Even Chord Indigo at £1000 for me was a pretty amazing improvement. I did demo not at Home though the Sarum T which excelled further.
I then purchase the Chord Signature Power Aray again far superior to a Powerline.

Gulp! That’s one heck of an expense.
I much prefer super lumina / Vertere to chord music

Did you do a side by side comparison to come to your conclusion ?
Don't go there Frank!!! (Sorry Analogmusic )

I use a very much full loom (almost) of Chord Music cables. It’s stunning to these ears combined with best NAS (Melco), electronics (Naim of course), anti-vibration components (Sonority) and some brilliant speakers (Kudos).

What was the system, where did you hear it, what cables did you compare and how exactly did you prefer SL/Vertere. What didn’t you like about Chord Music, precisely.
PS. I tried SL IC at home. Great but not best. As with speakers, you can chose another cable without being a traitor...

I preferred NACA5 to chord sarum speaker cables. Think the effect is very room and system dependent. Might try chord again for speakers w ND555, but have SL for rest and very happy w it. Chord gave a lot of detail on ambience and background but the key musicians and groove drowned a bit in the details. NACA5 totally rocksteady in comparison. Its great w cables as a means to really finetune and adjust to individual preferences. Br Lars
Guys, maybe I was not so clear what my point was. I am totally amazed at how much more musical information is lurking in the dark that can be retrieved by „simple“ cables. Or to put it differently how much musical information is eclipsed by regular signal cables. That in itself is an almost disturbing insight. I don’t care which cables do that and I am happy to accept if sl cables are even better that chord. The cables I am playing with at the moment is the signal cable between the scdr powering the superline and the pre and there is no superlumina provided from naim here. So there is no point here to prefer a SL cable. Just the thought that all the other signal carrying cables may similarly obliterate something is mind boggling ..
Agreed Franz. The fact that cables can make such a difference to SQ is both wonderful and intriguing at the same time. I have gone the SL route (full loom) and just get so much more musical enjoyment from their presence.
It would appear that average cables can be guilty of filtering out a good deal of information. It also appears that you need to have decent quality electronics and spend a fair amount on cables to acquire the transparency to rescue this information.
I do think that posh cables are somewhat over-priced but then, considering what they deliver, offer decent VFM IMO.
Nigel, wash your mouth out with salt water... do I need a full SL loom? The missus is with me on Saturday at Audio show East.....boxes can be explained, but cables?

Definitely not an easy one ☝️

Gazza, I too will be at the Show on Saturday and am willing to help explain all things cable to your wife. Have never been shy of a challenge!
I hate to say this but your ND555/555PS/252/SuperCapDR/NAP300DR deserves far better than stock cables. For me the best uplift in SQ are, in descending order, SL interconnect, SL speaker cables and SL DIN/XLR. See if you can borrow a SL interconnect and let the wife have a listen. That might just do the trick!
But... make sure you at least compare it with Sarum T/Music!

I was going to go the whole Hogg, but Alistair from Signals....said you need to let it all burn in and then try cables, otherwise you will not know what is delivering the music . SSShh the wife might be listening?
...and Tellurium ????

Alistair is spot on and this will give you some thinking time on how to position this, apparently non-sensical purchase, to the wife!
I can hear it now.....'how much for a bit of wire....you must be joking!'
