What has made my S-400 finally flourish?

Or: why did I wait so long to do a simple home demo that has changed everything?

A hint: this is not about the ND555.

It's always nice to hear of an example where something clicks and suddenly the system sounds just right.  Also nice when that happens with something straight-forward and simple.  So I'm pleased for you Massimo. But.......that new avatar of yours.  If it's what I think it might be, well, I'd be interested to hear the story.

The best my S400s sounded was with my CDS3, NaitXS mk1 with a Flatcap2. Superb. Later heard an XS2, and thought they had taken a backwards step...

Typical of you, Max, ignoring all my YBA and LFD pimping only to end up with an X rated machine..

Mike,

I would go off topic by miles, but I'd be happy to oblige. As you may know, I am occasionally weird enough to discuss uncomfortable matters.

Are you really interested? If yes, I'll reply in the padded cell.

I am, Max, but wouldn't want to pry.

Ok, gladly, and I'll try not to be elusive nor uselessly discreet.

Thanks,

Actually, that is precisely what I had entered my friend's audio shop to demo and eventually buy, but my credit card's limit prevented me from doing it, and I was short of change in my pockets.

Such a shame I think you could have really added to the one trillion views already posted on the subject perhaps the effect the rarified Italian air has upon the great hanging Burndies of Babylon.
