Misaligned Cd Drawer On CD5i

Posted by: Royd Audio on 15 October 2018

ive just got hold of a pre owned CD player that has clearly been cared for, however the CD door closes in about 5mm further than the edge of fascia. My previous one was flush. This doesn’t effect the operation or sound but is an irritant.

A previous but now closed thread mentioned an easy adjustment to a magnetic catch but provided no further info, can anyone help?

Yes, this adjustment is the easiest of the drawer adjustments to make and one that pretty much anyone can do, provided you have an ESD strap and you can safely remove the lid without damaging it (be careful of the screw securing the top - it can easily punch through the soft since alloy metalwork).  Once inside you'll see that the magnetic catch has some adjustment leeway.  Loosen off then tighten up with the drawer engaged and flush with the fascia.

Perfect, thanks.

One other question. When removing the bolts on the underside of the case is it okay to flip the player on its back?

Yes, that’s fine. Just don’t mess with the adjustment bolts by the drawer pivot..
