Problems ripping CDs to USB drive

Posted by: alpha10 on 16 October 2018

I received my Naim Unti Star yesterday, fantastisk product and sound, but I have one main big issue. When ripping CDs, even brand new ones, I often get ripping errors, not only that, sometimes the system rips the CDs perfectly without errors, but when playing the ripped CD from USB (tried different ones), there are errors in sound, sometimes unwanted noise, or it skips a few seconds. The odd thing is that when I play the CDs without ripping there are no issues at all, it plays all CDs perfectly, even my oldest most used CDs.

Is my Naim Uniti Star defective, or does this have to do with the USB keys? Do you have any recommendations on storage, I would prefer USB or SD Cards, as I only need to rip selected CDs.

Thanks

Have you contacted your dealer for advice.  Assuming the Star is new.

That doesn't sound right.  I would get in touch with your supplying dealer as the unit may be faulty.

Just talked to my dealer, which has sold lots of Naim Stars, he has never heard about this before. Of course, I will get a replacement if it's faulty.

Richard, I also contacted Naim support about this.

By the way, all the manuals for the new Unti series are missing from the website?

There is no manual.....Naim do not issue proper manuals anymore. If you migrate to the product page for Uniti Star, at the very bottom is manuals...quick start guide, or slightly better click on support and there is a FAQ and various help topics.
