Is there a Dac for the CDX2.2?

Or.. What is the considered opinion on the best DAC for the CDX2.2?

I've used this lovely player, with an xps, as a transport with dacs from other manufacturers like Cambridge and Yamaha to good effect.

Just wondering what the ideal Naim dac might be?

I too found that adding a day in my case a 2Qute to an ND5XS made a real difference I the tried several digital transports in place of the ND5XS before finally settling on a Raspberry Pi with Hifiberry Digi + which I find more than adequate.

I tried a 2qute on the Core but found it too sterile, even with a Belden 4794R cable. I didn’t go higher up the Chord range as a DAC was only a temporary solution while I waited for an NDS replacement to come out, the Atom etc made this inevitable. I settled on the rega DAC while I waited and it was surprisingly good for the money. Compared to the CDX2/555ps the Core/rega lost some of the PRAT but with the 4794R this improved to an acceptable level and I prefered the way it played classical music. The CDs had to go to make space for more vinyl.

I would buy 555ps first and add different manufacturer dac with tube. In this case you may use both CDX2.2's own dac and tube dac. My dream is adding nagra hd dac or their new model hd dac x for my system

From personal experience I have never been able to upgrade a system with a DAC alone. Usually what I get is a change of sonic character but no night and day improvement.

OTOH a change of the digital source in any way will. Like upgrading the bit rate of a stream, improvements in a cd transport always seem to give a more noticeable result.

So I wouldn't be that tempted to go over the top on a dac purchase when consensus of opinion seems to favour the power supply route.

My experience is different.  I found adding an nDAC to a CD5XS transformed it whereas adding a Flatcap was an improvement but a small one and a HiCap turned the sound too manic for my taste.

Shortly after the Naim DAC came out, a careful evaluation of adding it to a (Naim) CD player was reported by a well respected dealer (Norman Rodborough of UHES) who wrote a detailed review of the effect of putting it (with and without power supplies) on the CD5XS and the CDX2.2.  One of his conclusions was that adding the DAC improved the SQ more than changing the transport.  At least that's my reading of his post but here's a link:

It rather depends on how well the system is setup and what its strengths are. Using the CDX2/555ps against something with an external DAC, with old style Naim speakers (something with an L in the name) and a well setup system on Fraim I’d leave the DAC out of it, change the speakers for something differently able and the preference might well shift, put the CDX2 on an unsympathetic support and you’ll know all about it whereever the signal goes next.
