Is it a good thing updating my PS 555 for obtain a PS555 DR ?

Does it gave a better sound for the cost of update. Is it really necessary to proceed?

Thanks a lot

Some questions:

1- what are you powering with it?
2- how old is the unit? - is it >10 years old, recognising (as I understand things) the 555PS have a c.15 year recommended service period albeit I suspect many will seek a service a few years earlier.

In most cases the DR upgrade will bring improvements but it's perhaps easier and most cost effective to get this done with a service.

I have a new NDX 2 on september 2018 and my PS 555 was bought on 2009 July with my CD 555.

I have also a NAC 552 with a  PS552

At Montreal (Québec, Canada), the price for the upgrade  is about 2650 US$ /  (3445 CAD$)

Plurison in the Nam  distributor at Montreal.

The dealer don't have the authorisation to proceed the upgrade. It' s only Plurison at Montreal who can do this specific job authorised by NAIM

Pay attention that the NDX 2 is powered by a SXPS cable from the PS555....perhaps DR more later.

At this moment, I used the integrated power supply of my NDX 2

JYNO -

I'm not sure if DR'ing the 555PS would hugely benefit the NDX2 (noting the uplift of the 555PS in itself) -  I don't have this kit - others can comment.

On a CD555, it was a good move a few years ago when the DR conversion offer was initially available from Naim. Given the age of the 555PS, unless others can attest to DR being a significant upgrade for an NDX2 which would tempt you to spend monies now, I'd hold out for a year or 2 and coincide this with a service.

Is your 552PS a DR version? - if not, then I would do this first of all as I found the DR to be a worthwhile upgrade albeit I had this done with a service as my unit was ~ 9 years old.
