Naim Muso after last update gain level reduced

Posted by: Nuno Herder on 22 October 2018

I have noticed that I have to turn the gain up a little more to achieve the same volume on my muso. Any other user noticed similar effect?

It may be that the "Maximum volume" setting has changed for some reason. You can set it in the Naim app under "Other Settings".

Max volume preset will always default to 80% (or maybe it's 85%) after a firmware update

Not so. I have just now updated the firmware on my Qb and it was 100% before and still is 100% after the update.

my muso was also 100% before and still is 100% after the update. It really seems there was change on the firmware. Does anyone noticed also this change that we need to increase more the gain to reach the same db as before? I can clearly noticed that lost bass punch at a lower gain level and I don't like it at all.

The other thing you could check is that the Room position setting is unchanged. To get more bass it should set to "More than 25cm". Also the loudness setting being on or off will affect the sound, especially at lower levels.

Yes thank you, already checked and room position was not changed and loudness is on. At this moment when I prefer more bass, gain level needs to be adjusted between 70-90%. Before the update between 40-60 was enough. The equipment really seems it lost capabilities when compared with before. Not already very fun of not being able to regulate the sound bass and treble at personal way of enjoying the sound, independently if NAIM prefers to keep it blocked, but now also the gain was changed and together with with also bass is even lower and for sure I'm even less happy with it.

I haven't noticed any change, but I prefer less bass anyway so have loudness off and room position set to less than 25 cm regardless of where it happens to be. Maybe someone else who has noticed your problem will join in the thread later.

Ah yes you're right, I'm thinking of a factory reset!

No I agree you are right about after a factory reset!
