Another stacking question (sorry!)
Posted by: Gordon Lau on 23 October 2018
I have 2 stacks of shelves at the moment and 4 levels each.
The current arrangements are (top to
bottom)
Left Bank-
NDX/252/dCS Puccini/300
Right Bank-
dCS clock/supercap/300ps/tellus ground-box
do you Guys think this is the right order? As I’ve seen some suggesting the ndx may even be placed on the bottom level but I assume this is not doing wireless streaming any favours....
open for suggestions. Thanks
Probably the easiest thing to try would be swapping the NDX and the 252.
Are your 300 burndies off the floor? If not, I was going to suggest switching the dCS and 300 head unit work, but given you (presumably) need to access the dCS for CDs, that might not be sensible. Might swapping the Supercap and 300ps work in this regard (getting the burndies hanging nicely)?

Thanks. The 300 burndy not exactly on the floor and I have put some styrofoam material underneath but I guess ideally they should be free hanging. Let's swap the ndx and 252 perhaps
How are you using the ground box and why?

Just to be clear - I'm not claiming that switching the NDX and 252 will definitely improve things - it might not - but it's reasonably easy to try.
I actually have my NDS on the top shelf and the 252 below, but I do have the luxury of empty shelves above and below the 252 (on isoblue). (And I've never actually tried it the other way round!)

Yeah I know. I guess in the end it's a bit of experimenting and see which stacking order will yield the best results
That's the essence and fun of hifi??

Just some inexpensive tweaks. It does imo provide a more solid and quieter background but it remains a bit of a gadget.
It looks to be pretty harmless anyway.
pre above digital source or vice versa hasn’t been consistant when I’ve tried it. A 282 was happier below the CDX2 but a 552 needed to be above. I’ve never had a 252 so no direct experience except from memory the pre was on top when Naim ran an NDS vs ND555 demo with a 252 and a 300.
