Went to Leicester for some tangerines and a volcano

I mentioned this here a little while ago
got the Stiletto & Skorpion fitted along with the Lyra Etna, and as mine was worn, a shiny new bearing as well
thought I would stay in tonight ????

If it’s really Radikal too you might be in all winter
Love those Tanergerines when I go i come back with far more music than I started with, only down side is i also get a peace of paper with £ signs - but there we go
did you get tranquilty for that bearing?
enjoy the music
I have had the Stiletto for roughly a couple of years. It transforms the LP12 into a different league.
My dealer has offered to turn up my house with the set up jig, Scorpion baseplate and the Eklipse isolation platform and fit them. Just to see if I like it! I am sorely tempted but feel once installed its a no going back exercise. Its a fair amount of money but not in the overall layout.
So just how good is this combination? Bit of a daft question I know. I would expect it to be stunning.
Wondered what your thoughts on this would be Lyndon?
Not much of the old LP12 left with all these mods.
Lyndon- that is a stunning deck! Congratulations . I am breaking in an Etna SL as well- fantastic cartridge. Did you go with the fluted or plain?
ATB,
Mark
First impressions are stunning +
the Etna will need 20-30 hours to settle in, about 4-6 weeks for me
from the off its a fuller much more powerful sound and increased sound stage
a lot more detail across the board with the mid and bass being the most noticeable and a much lower, deeper bass
obviously I don’t know how much is due to the tangerine or the Lyra but the combination is a game changer
to the above:
it is the fluted version and looks absolutely stunning with the Skorpion
it still has the original lid
lyndon
Yes, the bass ! Not overpowering but definitely crawls all the way down... Fluted- excellent! Enjoy ...
ATB,
Mark
Yes, the bass is definitely not overpowering the DBLs provide a very clean controlled crispy and punchy bass that I’ve never heard from any other speaker, my 500 is on the bass which took it much deeper and lower, this has taken it even lower and deeper than I thought is possible

Glad you are happy Lyndon
KR, Peter
I’m extremely happy with my Stiletto, Aro, Armeggedon, Plateau, Kiseki Blue NS and Trampolin I had the player installed by Tangerine Audio. Certainly a game changer for me, I spend endless hours playing music.
Regards,
Martin
Thanks again Peter, as always top notch service and advice
Nevermind the sound, the deck looks superb and very professional with the Skorpion feet ( shame they don’t have better photos of these on the website), I’ve lived with the walnut plinth for 30 years over 2 LP12’s , thought I might miss it
sound wise, it’s a game changer, the 2 biggest upgrades I’ve done in the last few years was fully maxing the LP12 in 2016 and then replacing the Briks for Dibbles later that year. The 52/PS to 552DR was another pleasant moment but not on the same scale , the 500 probably needs the other 2 before it can shine, that’s how I found it with the speaker cables
As to the turntable, it’s lost absolutely nothing of what I had, it’s just built on this upwards, the extra depth and detail of the bass, the clarity of the mid and treble and most importantly the sheer musical involvement
i did try earlier an experiment with the capacitance loading, I removed the 470pf to make the loading more in line with Lyra’s recommendations, I did this with one side of an album just at random
The WHO Live at Leeds side B, My Generation ext & Magic Bus
Before doing this I didn’t really know what to expect although I was thinking along the lines of more openness with the plug removed
the difference was small but definitely the plug in place gave a more involving and exciting sound and perhaps more openness
it sounded pretty damn good at the shop, I knew this was going to be astounding once I had my 2 big boys on the other end of it, I wasn’t wrong
this will take me to new places as the cartridge wears in 20-30 hrs that’s 4-6 weeks

Congrats Lyndon. I can only imagine how awesome your system must sound. As a recent rediscoverer of the delights of Vinyl I’m unexpectedly enraptured by what it brings to the experience of recreating musical events in the home. Your Vinyl must be incredibly involving. Enjoy
Thanks Kevin
I’ve always been vinyl, after some years of buying magazines and looking at pictures I got my first Linn / Naim set up in 1989 and have rarely been disappointed climbing the ladder
impeccable service from dealers, equipment built to last and servicing, I had half a dozen power amps from the late 80’s serviced a couple of years ago
not many out there do that
ive heard a fair bit of so called modern stuff lately, an ND 555 (I think I’ve got that right) on a 500 system and on separate note Kudos 808’s , neither made my head turn
