Naim 250 DIN/XLR cable

Apologies if this is a stupid question but .... I have a CB Naim NAP250 from circa 1987 which I’ve had from new. Just been doing a bit of cleaning and noticed that the plastic sleeve on the XLR/DIN cable at the 250 end is loose (moves a little bit away from the socket end towards the cable and back again) despite the single screw holding it to the inner part of the cable socket being tight. From memory, I think it’s always been like this but wasn’t sure if that’s how it should be or whether the cable has stretched! Where the plastic connector cover meets the cable I can see the coloured wires coming out of the cable’s sheath but it’s all connected securely .
Just wondered if anyone knew if the XLR/DIN plastic connector cover should be lose or not?
Many thanks.

It shouldn’t be loose enough to show the little wires inside, but as it’s securely connected it’s probably fine. Out of interest, when did you last have the amplifier recapped? If it needs doing you could get the plug fixed at the same time.

It should look like this and the plug should not be loose or showing wires:

Many thanks, HH & Richard. The 250 was recapped in 2011 but I’ll see if I can get my dealer to sort something.
Thanks again

As above: no inner wires to view, solidly attached plugs. Sounds like it's time for a new cable.

Yes, think you might be right Loki. I’ll see if it’s repairable first but may just bite the bullet! Thanks.

Mine (from a 2005 250) looks the picture Richard Dane posted. Nothing astray.
