N 272 (not) gone from website
Posted by: No quarter on 31 October 2018
I just looked at the Naim website, and it appears to be a new look, with everything broken down into categories under “products”
As the title says,I no longer see the N272 listed.Could this mean the N372 is on its way soon?
You can still find it if you google its name, then click on their website, but it seems to be no longer listed in any category.
What happened here, did I miss an announcement?
ok I just found it if you scroll down further under streamers, sorry for the confusing post.
The product history page will tell you all you need to know about what's been discontinued.

Your dealer may be well connected but he really should keep his gob shut. I know my dealer really well, but never in the 26 years I’ve known them have they revealed anything. There should be trust between the dealers and Naim.
It’s obvious that the 272 will go, as it’s on the old platform. It’s pretty well certain that there will be a ‘better’ new platform version, but whether it’s better enough to warrant changing, and whether there will be a higher level streaming preamp are the interesting questions. No amount of speculation will make the answers come any sooner.
I think both Japtimscarlet and his dealer should receive a sound thrashing with the fat end of a Burndy cable for this flagrant disregard of the Naim Audio code of conduct.
Well Mike From Naim was asked by someone at Audio show east today and poured cold water on it, saying it would be several years away. But he would have to say that, even if it was coming out next year?
Excellent, that gives me longer to save up. I’ve only amassed £800 so far. Despite what Mike might say, I’d bet my dog on the replacement coming next year.
So would I HH. If I was in his position I would have just said we can,t comment on future products, but he went to some length to explain it was not a simple task to replace the 272, 372 or 572.... he had heard all the rumours.

Doesn't he get any discount on Chord power amps to drive his B&W properly? ????
I don't buy anything much that gets said at shows about 'future' products. My next move will be a top end streamer/pre & active speakers, I really don't want to get into more boxes with ND555 & 552 & all the PSU's that go with them. I might be tempted to have a listen at whats available north of the boarder just to get the performance with the configuration I want.
Huge posted:The TI PCM1792A is still a very good Sigma-Delta DAC, but the DAC chip is just one component in the DAC system: arguably, in real life, the circuitry and firmware surrounding the DAC chip have a much greater influence on the overall sound of the system.
Huge, actually I think you’ll find the TI PCM 179X series of DACs use the TI Advanced Segment approach and are a hybrid architecture and not specifically Delta-Sigma DACs. The upper most significant 6 bits are converted using a ladder architecture and the lower 18 bits are Delta-Sigma modulated, thereby attempting to combine the benefits of Ladder DACs (like the 1704K) with traditional Delta Sigma DACs offering greatest linearity cost effectively
As far as the surrounding componentry, indeed that sets the performance envelope and some of the character of the conversion, but the heart and potential conversion accuracy and quality is determined, supporting componentry willing, by the DAC. These DACs are also current DACs so the outputs do need to be converted into a signal voltage, and so a key supporting function becomes the current to voltage converter in the analogue output stage ... but garbage in garbage out. However Naim I understand are quite pleased with their i2v designs.
