Qobuz in wav ?
Posted by: t@rmac on 11 November 2018
Hi ,
Actually streaming Qobuz via Bubble upnp (installed on Nas ) to the 272 , is anyone that transcode "on the fly" flac to wav ?
Is it possible ?
I transcode FLAC to WAV for Files but on Asset on my NAS, not sure you can do this on bubble? it should give you a option if it can
Yes I transcode Qobuz to WAV on the fly using Bubble UPnP Server ... for me Qobuz streaming is now at equivalence to locally sourced streaming in terms of SQ... that was a real moment of liberation.. I can now enjoy a vast library of music as if I owned it.. I only purchase and rip rare or limited distribution CDa now that are not streamed.
Bubble uses the FFmpeg libraries for transcoding. You need to compile and link the latest versions of the code for it to work with Bubble.
thanks Simon , it's difficult ? I'm a dummies in Linux
To be honest it’s not completely straightforward. You best try and download some pre built binaries for FFMPEG if they exist for your platform.. look at the Bubble site for links. This didn’t work for me so I needed to compile and link... it took several hours on a RPi. This is what it looks like when installed correctly.

I used "apt-get install ffmpeg" on my Pi. They are not the latest versions compared to the ffmpeg website but they seem to work fine.
My Raspbian repository is set correctly.
You can as said above use the apt-get function to fetch and install ffmpeg, that didn’t work for me with BubbleSoft, but appears to work for others so give a try.
I suffered the same issue as Simon performing apt-get for ffmpeg. The Transcoding page of BubbleSoft gave the impression all was well, but the Stream Info on my 272 suggested otherwise. In order to resolve the issue, I did a full re-install of the Pi with Raspian Stretch Lite and Optware-ng. I'm now enjoying the delights of Qobuz Hi-Res stream, with Bubble transcoding to WAV on the fly. Sounds excellent too!

You had me a little bit paranoid there... I've just double checked Bubble and my ND5XS ensuringthat they both report WAV streams of the correct resolution <phew!>
