Hi can anyone tell me is the 272 pre amp as good as the 282 or the 202 thanks acetone

If what is the case?
Sits between the 202/282
Its different. So it depends on your priorities. And depends on which power supply you use.

I have heard both on my 250dr with an analog turntable
thinking about it, why would a 272 be good enough to challenge a 282?
282 is good enough preamp for life.... every time I hear a 252 or 552 system they sound very good but coming back home to my 282 I never feel the urge to upgrade...
That’s funny. I feel the same way about the 272 after hearing a 252/SCDR/300DR. I don’t think the additional cost is worth the SQ upgrade to me. With that being said I think the 272 is close to the 282. Although that is without any Chord products involved.

I've almost come from that exact situation
Had 272 / xpsdr / 250dr
Went to 252 / Supercap dr / NDS / 250 Dr
Believe me when I say it's a considerable step in the right direction
Whether you think it's worth the money is a personal question ... But it's not in question that it is a big step up
I never thought the 272 preamp was even at 202 level but I know plenty of others reckon the 272 is at 282.....

Didn’t hear with a NDS but when I got home and turned on my system I didn’t feel the itch to upgrade based on my demo. Not saying it’s not better but for me it’s not worth the investment. Didn’t feel I would be getting any more enjoyment out of the music than I am now. Good for my wallet for sure.
I don’t understand some owners! What is it with all this jumping to defend their kit? I’m happy with my 272 combo - of course I am, I bought it didn’t I? If I’d had the spare cash and, more importantly, the space to accommodate 6 black boxes instead of 3, I would more than likely have gone for seperate preamp and streamer with respective power supplies. What I’m not stupid enough to do is try to justify my choice by claiming mine is the quality equivalent of significantly more expensive Naim kit. If that were the case there would be no 272s left on any dealers’ shelves and Naim would be struggling to explain a pretty strange business model! For heavens sake let’s put this type of thread to bed once and for all.
Timmo its all bullshit, once you reach the level most are at on here a slight lean forward, a turn off the head, cold, wife nagging effects the sound.
Spurrier... I had the 272 and 282 side by side into my 250 DR and Dynaudio F260 with my turntable as the source.
the contest was over within seconds in favour of the 282, there was 3 of us, and we all heard it.

Quite. These comparisons have been trawled over ad nauseam, and it never gets anyone anywhere. I don’t understand the need to get everything ordered. Just buy what you like and be happy. Like you, I’d never say that my system is as good as more expensive ones. It really doesn’t matter. It works for me.
Who’s defending their kit? All I said is for me the 272 is great. No need to spend more cash to get more enjoyment. If you feel the need to do so go for it. Enjoy. You only live once not that it matters but I do think my current kit far exceeds and worth the investment over my previous Uniti 2 and XS 2/ND5XS systems. Although speakers changed also. .
I’m happy and my choices are constantly attacked - a 252 which some say is junk and I won’t even mention my Sopras which have been described by some here as pedal bins or even washing machines. Never short of an opinion the place
What tedious world we would be in if we were constantly inflenced by the views of a vocal few!
Well, a 252 certainly isn’t junk, or anything vaguely close to that. It took a 552 for me to move away from my own 252, otherwise I’m sure I’d still be delighted with it.
SPeakers of course, are far more divisive - none more so than Naim’s own (back when they made them). Some loved them. But it seemed rather more hated them - some with a fervent passion unmatched since.
AnywAy, enjoy your 252 and Sopras. I’m sure they’re excellent.

When you tested the two pre amps I guess the 282 was powered by a HiCap DR did you have an external PSU for the 272?
