Speakers for Naim uniti atom

Posted by: Tell on 27 December 2018

Hello I’m new to this site, I don’t know much about Hi-Fi, please could somebody help me.  I have a  pair of Tannoy Revolution XT F8 speakers that cost me around £1,300 about three years ago,  i’m interested in buying Uniti atom or star, would my speakers be good enough for either of those systems or should I  upgrade my speakers too. Thank you

Best advice - have a listen once you've brought home the Naim Uniti box!  Speakers depend on the hardware AND the room they are in; no one can tell you what will or won't work in YOUR room.  Don't buy new speakers until you've listened.

Thank you for your advice Bart, I’m also wondering if the Atom would be powerful at enough at 40 watts to drive my large Tannoy XT F8’s, if not also would the more powerful 70 watt Star costing £3500 be much too good for my speakers, Thanks

The sensitivity is rated at 91dB, so I would THINK the Atom would be worth listening to them.  Things always seem to improve as one goes up the Naim range in the Uniti line, so if you can afford a Star "go for it."  Maybe your dealer will let you bring the Atom home (and then the Star?) to try in your home with your speakers? That would be the best way to proceed.
