To post a CD5i do I just screw in the transit screw and post it? Does it need anything else to hold the CD platter in place or similar?

Put the puck somewhere where it won't get lost and won't end up in the inside of the player!

Yes & no.

The much older CD3 player did require extra packing inside it's drawer to protect the actual mech itself. With the CD5i all you need is the transit screw in place and nothing else.

I'd put it in a box too...
