Forum iPad App

It's a joke. Any chance of a proper one in the works?

I recommend the Apple Remote app.  It is also free and works well with iTunes.

Richard, John is referring to the N-Forum app to read the forum, not the N-Serve or N-Stream apps to play music.

I wouldn't hold out any hope, they can't even get the main forum app sorted, so the chances of getting one working properly on iOS, IMHO, is less than SFA.

Oops!  Sorry my bad.  I am using my iPad to reply, but I am not, so far as I know, using any app.  I did try it, but had some problems and so deleted it.

If this works, meaning my post appears, then what is the point of the app?

Not tried the app to be fair, John, but happily entering this post via an iPad and Safari browser, which I assume you have tried.

Given that all Apple Pad, Phone and Touch products have Safari, then app's to access to forums, Facebook and other websites seem a tad pointless. Might try the app to see what all the fuss is about, but doubt it will be as easy to use as the browser interface.

Forget the app., it's hopeless. But even using the normal site, it just doesn't work properly with the iPad, unlike all the other websites I regularly browse. Very frustrating!

Haven't used the forum with my iPAD in a while, just quoted a post and it's still messed up and menu buttons still don't show in the post reply window. Let me try in a few months again.

Still post from my PC when I'm at home but it's no fun logging in on the road.

It's really quite stunning - in a bad way - there is no other site I have encountered that can't be used with an iPad. I'm even able to perform forum moderation work with my iPad on another forum without even the slightest issue.

Just downloaded the app and giving it a go. So far so good... Limited, admittedly, to text entries only but what else would you need if you are on the bus with an iPhone sized screen??? But I think I see where the comments are aimed. Personally, I still can't see the need for this app on an iPad, however good or bad the browser access may be. Won't be using the app out of choice. Agreed Tony,

The normal web-shite works fairly well on the iPad. But most headings need to be tapped twice to open.

A proper dedicated iPad app would be nice.

Hi John -

This drives me nuts!   Column headings are one tap, but entering a thread takes two or more...and the taps can't be too fast or two slow!   Sometimes it takes me half a dozen tries to get it just right!

I am not having this problem using the iPad on any other forum, so once again, I blame good ol' Hoop-dee-do-less for this lack of usability!!

Hi John & Hook

Concure with the double tap thing - frustrating at times. But interestingly if you press and hold your finger on the link (when using iPad to access) you get a pop up to allow you to either open, open in new window or copy, so maybe that's the clue the double tap issue - select link, then click to open.

True, but it's not elegant and I guess our beef is - why is it apparently only the Naim forum that suffers in this way?

Maybe it is just me, but if press/hold and select Open, nothing happens.  If I press/hold and select Open again, it opens the thread.  In other words, it works just like a double tap....only slower.  :-(

And oh yeah, quoting still doesn't work well (see the "class="quotedText"" stuff above).

Both are minor annoyances, and neither stops me from using my iPad.  But the irony here is that I bought the iPad specifically to run N-Stream.  With Naim's focus on iPad-ready apps, you would think that they would want their forum to look good, and function properly, especially when accessed from this device!
