n-Stream alternatives ?

Are there any - I'm missing my playlists. Out of the various players I have on my iPad, only the PS audio eLyric should work but for some reason won't talk to the NDX :-(

The eLyric does, in my experience, talk to the NDX, but stops working at the end of the song currently playing if it's not on screen.

Plugplayer works and stays connected and does playlists, but isn't a particularly joyful experience.

If you are streaming from a Unitiserve you can create playlists on the n-Serve app and access them on n-Stream. It's a bit of a faff, though.

Tried Kinsky - pretty dreadful and I'm not a fan of Plugplayer. N-stream works for me but you do need a fast and responsive server. I think Naim are working on playlists but I would also like proper random play. Tog

Thanks. Yes eLyric can see what's playing but not select the next track. Shame as it's a nice interface.

Tog - responsiveness is not the problem, the whole interface and lack of playlist support let's it down. Kinsky by comparison ( have you tried the latest version ?) is so much better.

Shame :-(

In the interim I am using iTunes playlists via Play - works a treat until N-stream catches up.

I actually quite like kinsky for queing up different songs into a playlist. So much easier than N stream.

Unfortunately it wont play continuous music (like an opera) without gaps between tracks. I think Linn players can store playlists so they don't have the same problem.

I'm really hoping the next version of N Stream will feature playlists, and basic things like showing how far through a track/album you are (like you'd get on a cd player display).

Windows Media Player (latest version)?

You can manage your library however you like and then use the "Play To" feature to stream to your UPNP renderer (Uniti*)

Means fiddling with a PC I like using an iPhone or iPad to select music from a headless network server. Tog

I use IPeng for my Squeezebox at the moment - how does N-stream compare if I were to go to an NDX?

Not as quick - although not much in it if you are using an iPad 2
